yep this is the worst. my problem is more with the drivers side mirror. once it bounces off there, forget it, i have to move my head a little or wait for the guy to pass me. just think. . you cant have your high beams on all the time beacuse you blind people - - - high beams > low beams, HID > high beams.
did you happen to take any night pics?

wrong, well where I live anyways........in this case they would be ileagal but if you do it properly and have projector with the light properly aimed then it is fine.
All modifications illegal for headlights, wether properly aligned or not. Sure having them properly aligned with projectors will get you alot less trouble because they arent as noticably dangerous for other drivers and blinding people, but its still illegal.
So much time/money is spent to get DOT approval, that is why there are good projectors premade out already.
Putting HIDs were intended for projectors or a specific reflector housing, not a cavaliers, so it right and you will be much happier with it
I couldnt tell which direction you were going with that but in {A it is illegal to retrofit a car with no HID's from factory with HIDs without a projection lens.. use a lens and hey, it's ok
quoted from an officer who saw me with my H I Dizzles
Well if you have to have a projector than Acura is in for a rude awaking because the CL type S (old ones) and TLs have no projectors same goes for the Lexus IS300. So i think that cop was full of it
see thats where you are wrong, becuase the lights were probably be made for the housing. they arent as obnoxious as people putting 10,000k in their truck and blinding the hell out of people. plus, if it comes from the factory is has to be legal or else it could never be sold.
i would just hate to live where all you guys do because it sounds like cops have a lot of time on their hands if they pull you over for your headlights. i never see that around me. most cops just let you go, unless its soo over the top that you are asking for it.
10000k's aren't much brighter than a standard bulbs like the silverstars, it the 4000-6000K kits that are really bright. Mine are 6000K and I have the aimed down, I still get flashed maybe once a month but none of my friends that drive infront of me complain. On the other hand, my best friend ordered the same kit I have and I put it in his lifted jeep wrangler. He went around blinding his friends(me included) for about a week, Then he blinded the crap outta the 5-0 one night. Now he has a inspection ticket and needed to remove them for the test. I will put them back in afterward but, I am pointing them as far down as they will go. The thing I can't figure out tho is they are both 6000k kits, mine look blue and his look purple. Maybe its the housings, idk.

i bet you they sent him the wrong bulbs then....becuase the purple bulbs are obviously the 12k
even 8000 will look purple,,,,but its the same as if you look at a Nissan compared to a BMW,,,,the BMW HID's look more blue, but they are the same K/kits
ShiftyCav wrote:

to some extent this is true do to the brightness,,,,,but thats why I say if you have a projector then the light is controlled to a focal point on the road and has a cut off line so its not shinning up into car......unlike when you flip on you stock highbeem the light is all dispersed and scattered.......
Thats why with this topic, I feel if you put it in a projector and control where the light goes properly then there should be no problem......should be no problem as in stupid cop shouldn't car as the ONLY reason it is considered illegal is because in lopped in with modifying which which means we are obviously all street racing,,,,,,Heck if its ok from a dealer then there should be no reason to punish us for having them IF DONE RIGHT.......to me its just discrimination
Okay, I'm done my rampage now....lol

I have one true love in my life...And my girlfriend sits next to me in it
projectors are a must with HID's, but now..on the topic of YOUR car and YOUR car alone, and YOUR new headlights, not talkin about every other car with HIDs, im just not digging the yellow, i for one am the kinda guy that wants to drive around with some nice bright white headlights that light up the road like daylight, not like shooting glasses lol
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

i had lots of toys when i was young.slinky,etc.but once i found my penis, that was all she wrote
wow, its like you have fogs for headlights. and yep, those look like theyll blind someone sooner or later, so i would say get a projector housing.
anton2586 wrote:i bet you they sent him the wrong bulbs then....becuase the purple bulbs are obviously the 12k
Nope, they are 6000k, it says it on the box and the bulb.

Normally the different color from different manufacturer is because of the projector used.
Yellow does look good but out of place at the same time. You will get messed with by the police for sure. They glare pretty bad and the color is an eye catcher, be careful.

ehh i dont know about getting messed w/ the police alot just because the color is yellow and its really close to the stock color....i can see them hunting him down more if they were blue.
That doesn't look anything close to stock to me. I will send my pics to my brother who is a police officer and see what he says about them.

i meant that as a more to stock look then a blue colored HID
First off let me say this.....if you are getting a good high quality bixenon kit, like you should if you have the 9007 to retain your high beams, you wont have a problem. The hidynamic bixenon kit uses a shield on their bulbs so as not to blind oncoming drivers. I have the 6000k bixenon kit on my vehicle and have once to get flashed in 3 months. The lowbeams are very bright in front of the vehicle and the high beams throw the light out further like they are suppose to. so all this talk about blinding people would be pointless if people would just get the right kit instead of being cheap. A quality hid kit will be more than 179+shipping. The hidynamic bixenon kit is 359+shipping. Id rather spend more money now than have to worry about blinding people, especially cops. Thats just my .02 though. Other than that, i sorta like the yellow.......its different. If you want pics of my setup just lemme know. Oh by the way, when i say nobody flashes me, thats in a 2000 cherokee with 6 inches of lift too.......think about that a bit

To the comments about different cars having different color HIDS is because each car can use the same kit, its the projector that makes color.
I wont go into the optics and all that stuff about it, but Basically, almost all OEM HIDs are 4300k bulbs. There is a huge difference on the projector used and the color output oncomming vehicles see.
There are e46s, which are pretty common for aftermarket retrofits which come from the BMWs. You also can step up to Hella projectors, i forget which vehicle they are off of.
Acura TSX projectors are a step above all those which keep a tight beam but a very intense color band, and the S2000 projector is often interchanged with TSX projectors, they are very similar, only a small difference in output etc.
And acutally these yellow headlights will provide better light OUTPUT than a higher temp bulb straight up, sure it wont be the crisp clear white everyone looks for, but the lower on the temp scale (ie the k number) the better the light output is, 12k is purple but worst light output, 6-8k is blueish when speaking about bulbs and temp color rating.
Again BMWs etc with stock projectors/HIDs it is the projector that makes the color, not the bulb nearly as much.

4100K or 4300K is the lowest you should go on H.I.Ds
Yellow? That won't annoy anyone.

Explain why you think that, it makes no sence to me.

4100-4300k is the most light output you will get possible in H.I.Ds
if you dont believe me do some searching and reading.

anything more then that you lose output, but get more color.
p.s. Hidynamic kits = crap
all Plug and Play kits are crap.
OEM all the way!!!!
i had yellows and got followed by almost every cop that saw me.
