Our local yards have tons of those, with the tabs. I've gone through a handful myself.

true but its hard to find one without shoe marks and scratches all over it. as well as all the tabs in-tact.

yeah i dont know wtf the deal is with that tab..

i know the 03-05 pillar is different than the 95-02 one so do they not have the tab themselves.. or how about a different kind or something?

ok so now the car is even further torn down

but for good cause! found a full set of lightly used baer brakes (front and rear), all i need to do is swap my stock stuff for their's and do all the work... heading out saturday (its a 5 hour drive one way) to do the swap!!!

anyways, here's pics of the stock stuff coming off. i must say i had never dealt with drum brakes before so i had a buddy come over and give me a hand, thanks a TON mike!!! all n all it wasnt too terrible, one bolt gave us trouble on the rear so it needed to be drilled out, but other than that and ruining every tie rod and ball joint rubber boot with the pickle fork, stuff came out rather easily.

well i just learned that the massiveness of the baers might prove to be too large for my 'little' 17's

we'll see though...

pulled the rear section hard lines off as well as the rear rubber lines tonight so i can install the steel braided ones.

too bad when ive looked under my car to work on this stuff it about makes me sick to my stomach at how dirty it all is. probably going to have the rear arm and subframe powdercoated to help this issue. unfortunately im thinking the bill for those two pieces will probably reach around $400.

I like how you try to keep everything clean and restored. One question, how hard was it to remove that back bumper frame support?...I couldnt get mine off.

GMR has got nothing on this

oh god... a freaking nightmare to say the least.

needed some special 'extractor' sockets to get the nuts off. the inch thick undercoating over them didnt help either... with rust nor access.

i demand updates NOW brad.

i fail.

well i guess i do have a small update. door handles/locks didnt match so i made my buddy that painted em try again LOL

ive sold the baer rears and the fronts look like they'll be sold next week, so... basically.. problem. i have nothing to put on the car. i could go find junk in a yard somewhere to get it running but ive chosen not to. had to sell them in order to get to go to the bash.. so, had to make a sacrifice. besides, i want wilwood fronts anyways. and already have the neon rear disc conversion to use. plan is to powdercoat the rear trailing arm and front subframe before the car ever sees the road again.

also.. my timing chain housing and cam towers are done at the powdercoaters. going to pick em up soon. ill put pics of em up as well as a few other goodies ive gotten since then.

i got my OEM rear tie bar but its not going to work the way mark designed it to work places it in the way of the addco sway bar so scratch that im probably going to have him make me a new one that fits my bar though. if anyone is interested in my bar, pm me. it is for sale. it's chrome powdercoated and freaking beautiful.

Haha, nitrous on the rental ftfw!

I'm probably going to have to drop my interest level to zero on the tie bar - in the interest of saving that bit of money to make sure I can make it over for memorial day too.

Can't wait for next week, I'll keep you updated!

ooooook.... i am back at it, guys. lots of changed plans though...

bear brakes? nope. ordering wilwood fronts as soon as i can get with karo, baer decelators and srt-4 calipers going to be ordered for the neon swap as well.

nasty stock suspension components? nope, bought moog ball joints, trw tie rods, and national wheel bearings (all four) today.

LO intake/exhaust cams? nope. MILLER PERFORMANCE HO cams will be going in instead. ordered sealed power lightweight 2.3 lifters instead and have my bored intake tower now as well as 2.3 exhaust tower. still need to get those powdercoated.

i have my crank being gutted at my local quad god machinists currently, soon as i get a clear weekend ill be taking him my block to be 2.3 oil pump swapped as well then i can begin the build. yay.

ill get pics up tomorrow hopefully of everything ELSE ive gotten since these last pics were taken. and believe me, it is a LOT.

I must confess... I feel like a monster!
