Hate on, but this man handled it like a champ.

Thank you, sir. It was a pleasure meeting you and your car as well, I must say, best setup on an HHR I've ever seen.

The car will be modified more and better designed for next year, and it WILL make it.

You can tell it's summer cause there seems to be alotta sand in people's bergina's. He likes it, his car, his problem.

Would have liked to have seen the car at the BBQ, but @!#$ happens some times. Glad to hear you guys got it all fixed up. Sorry for the less that stellar directions to get there.

I would not personally run my car that low in this area. I had gouges in the subframe of my stock suspension Z from the @!#$ty roads in this area. Lowered or not damage to an oil pan can easily happen around this area.

^In all fairness I was warned, I even had it raised an inch in the front for the trip down, however Friday night after Woodward Ave I got cocky and decided to drop the front back down. Regardless, what I hit on I-75 wouldve destroyed me being raised an inch or not.

The wheels are in motion now, however. The car will make it next year, and it will defeat I-75.

Pics to come.

In the meantime, here are some from saturday ...morning... during the "incident" and one from Sunday. In no particular order, I actually stole most of them off of Jay's facebook.

Dislikers gonna dislike.

You gotta love for being low, and I can fully respect it dude. I feel your pain, too... I've destroyed two fenderliners, broken the tabs holding my fuse panel, and somehow managed to break the tabs holding my sunroof control panel in my Passat during the drive to Philly this passed weekend. Luckily, we've modded my mounts to bring the oil pan above the subframe, so I shouldn't have issues there. Just keep it rolling, man.. good luck next round.

Oh, I meant to ask.. do you keep blocks of wood with you for just such an emergency, or was the wrecker just THAT prepared? LOL.

i like it but i don't see the point of turboing it when u can't really drive it fast unless u know theres no big dips or bumps ahead

Why does that keep me from driving fast? I don't see why everyone thinks this car is completely undriveable.

And Evan, I brought that much wood with me this weekend, I don't normally, but figured being in uncharted territory it would probably be a good idea. Turns out it was for the best.

Jeff it was nice meeting you on Saturday although I'm not sure if you know who I was because I'm not sure if I really introduced myself. I was really bummed I didn't get to see the car in person but that's all part of the game, kinda the same reason my 240 wasn't at the bbq. Hope you can make it again for next years bbq!

He asked what colour it was, not what it was from.

The colour is bronze, the coolant reservoir is from a cobalt.

I'm not sure of the exact colour of the valve cover - it's bronze something...

And Jason, it's actually from a G6

I'm hating on the car because it is inherently unsafe. I'm not petty enough to be jealous of his or anybodys car. If I wanted mine to be that low I would do it. Trust me. There is NOTHING on this car that I am jealous of.

dry sump oil system will give you more ground clearance and you can leave the engine where it is.. thats what I'd do

I think with more of a forward rake and less rear camber the car would look pretty cool, but thats just me.
