Leona 2012

Well its that time of the year again.
After the huge amount of work that I did to the car last year, this year SEEMS like a light year of work, but sadly, its not.
There are alot of things that are going to be changing on the car for this season.
A few things that will be getting the boot and changed:
Rims are already sold, new ones will be picked up in February.
Import Fighter front is gone and being replaced with a stock front.
Smooth trunklid will be gone in favour of the CF trunklid
Ground Controls and Koni reds are sold, new suspension has been paid for but Im waiting until March to get it shipped. (Its coming from Texas)
Brake master cylinder/distribution block are going along with the booster and upgraded.
Power steering will be tossed and the rack will be converted to a proper manual rack.
Install solid trailing arm bushings.
Ofcourse, there is still alot of work that needs to be completed from last year:
Install my Alky injection
Install a muffler
Make an intake
Re-do the upper rad hose
Make a custom headlight harness to run through the frame rails
And many other things that I cant think of right now.

Couple pics of the stuff that I already have.

Delrin trailing arm bushings. When I say these things are solid, I mean they are SOLID.

My new shifter boot, will be going with the Crown Royal Black

CF trunklid.

Stock Z front, notice the foglights and license plate filler that came with it

And last but not least, pics from the end of last year.

The car comes out of storage on April 1st, so thats when the work will begin.

Nice plans. And you'll love the delrin bushings, made an immediate difference and stopped my rear end from wanting to walk right outta the car in turns, lol. Good product for sure

What are trailing arm bushings?
ie. Where do they go, what part of the suspension do they stiffen up?

I have had it for 6 years or so. Its been on no less than 5 cars. It was just time for a change.

Well, Rob was bored at the shop today. lol
So he got the spare rack that I left there and went to town. He just needs to pick up more cutting bits, then the seal can come off the shaft and get re-assembled.

Rack internals.

Hopefully removing the seal isnt too bad. Once I have put a couple months of seat time into this and everything checks out, Rob will probably be selling the manual racks.

Looks good, can't wait for the out come of all the work planned for this year. With your track record so far, it should be nothing short of amazing.

Thanks a lot guys. I'm really looking forward to this summer.

And yes Brad, I said manual rack. If everything checks out, I'm thinking these racks will probably go for about $150 with a core or $200 without.

ha, would love to see felicia drive it with a manual rack in it! As heavy as the steering is in an ld9 car with no ps, there's no denying how much more feel there is. Don't take too long to get used to the weighting either really.

Im still waiting for her to drive it with the manual gearbox, nevermind the manual steering.
Ofcourse, this car would be a bitch to learn how to drive stick on with the stage 4 clutch. Add in the manual steering and she might kill me if I put her behind the wheel. lol

Great idea with the headlight harness, never thought about doing it that way. Curious to see how the manual rack works out as well.
