Cobalt SS/TC Rims w/Brembo's
Sunday, March 18, 2012 7:49 PM
So in search of a different set of rims for this year, the Cobalt SS/TC rims kinda caught my eye and decided that I wanted to look into this swap.

I started by using the Grand am control arms and modified them to work with the cobalt ball joint

Since I have Koni reds I verified the insert size of the cobalt compard to the cavalier. They ended up being the same size, so I took the lower half of the cobalt strut tube and the upper half of the cavalier strut tube and made a strut tube that will accomadate the the cobalt knuckle and the cavalier spring perch for my eibach sportlines.

With these two pieces, the rest is all bolt on

Also note: I am using the Cobalt SS/NA knuckles so the wheel bearing will work with the j-body stock axles

I havent completed the rear but have it all planned out. I will let the pictures do the talking when I get them bolted on

An alignment is required, right now the wheels are towing out. Also in person the rims seem to be sitting in the same location as my rims were before, but will know better once all the final touches are finished and an alignment has been done. I will keep this thread updated

Here are a couple pictures from last year

Very nice! I often thought about looking into making this work, just never made it past the thinking stage, haha! Very good work indeed, I'll be excited to see all four corners done!

reading it more clearly, we need the cobalt knuckle and ball joint too right? and this will not work with the j-body control arm?

Hot damn!

More importantly, how much did the brakes, rims set you back?

Crate Engine Depot

I bought the rims from someone that had them refinished for 750cdn

Great set up, I love the wheels! But as mentioned it's worth getting a wilwood set up unless you could get the brake set up for less from a wrecked Balt. Nice work though, can't wait to see full car pics.
