Thumbs up on the vid! Like said on FB, not too many pulls like that left in it! Still a killer setup though!

I agree. Couple more pulls she would have came apart. 330whp on 16psi in the 2000lb car. It moves.

That's nuts. Very very cool.

I don't know if I commented in this thread at all, but building a car from nothing and having it turn out like this is quite impressive. Horsepower isn't even important after all that chassis work lol (I mean it is, but it's easy to make power compared to the rest of the work).

Again; awesome.

Word...lol because my butt dyno couldn't tell and look at how much weight is gone compared to a stock cavy...

So much awesome, Good show Ben.

This video got enough attention that it showed up on a local MT facebook car group...... It got way more love than hate which frankly surprised me, MT folks generally @!#$ dog on cav's ( mostly rednecks and subies lovers, durpin about round here), although the mandatory trolls had to jump in there and say..... "still just a cavalier".

I was like, "yeah it is, try not to choke on your jealousy."

Very impressive. A part of me is curious what it could go up to till it blows.

It might take a 450whp run, but not sure it will take anything after that run. Timing was pulled way back on that run so there was power in the tune still, but we were trying to hit a number and drive it away. We did that.

I do believe the car will be getting a "It's just a Cavalier" sticker.

x2

This gets me giggling for hours... as far as I know, there is nothing on the org or j platform, that has come close to this build.
Maybe I missed it, but are you planning to put this into any events/races?

has the ACTUAL (not theoretical) weight WITH DRIVER been established as of yet, ben?

no, see... that doesn't answer my question.

BEN, have you determined the ACTUAL (not theoretical) weight of the car WITH THE DRIVER?

with the driver is all the matters to me.

but in reality I guess I fail because that cannot even be ascertained at this time because the car is not yet complete.

also, is the convertible top still going to be used?

I believe Ben is like 200lbs. So 2260lb.

At some point it will have carbon fiber shell so weight should drop, but that could be a while.

He does have the original vert top but I do not think he plans to use it..

I don't know how I got unsubscribed to this thread.....
Congrats man, you did an amazing job on this build Ben. Love the fabrication skills. If the car drives half as good as it looks - definately a thrill bomb.

So like, what's next?

Cheers

Are you setting up a custom shifter? Or does the trimming allow you to have a shorter throw?

That is the correct way to shorten the throw. Instead of just shortening the shifter inside the car, you shorten how far the cable actually has to move to shift, so you can maintain a reasonable height shifter, but have the short throw.
