Consider also that pressure increases when restrictions are added, sort of like your thumb over a hose.

Speed also increases! Volume goes down.

I wonder what type of pressure relief valving options are available aftermarket?

Just a thought!

Coilovers for the cav. QA1 DS304 with 7k springs in the front and 9k in the rear.

New coolant pipe 1" weld-in NPT fittings for the 1.5" barb to 1" NPT adapters. Had coolant flow issues with the hard pipes that were made, too much friction. Increased the diameter by 0.5" and going to use standard hose for now.

Sold my 94 C1500 and bought this 2013 VW Passat TDI, which gets almost 50 mpg.

You'd have jackasses be like, "It's LS1 swapped", or "Who cares, it's still just a Cavalier"...

My favorite thing is when people say 'yeah but its still just a Cavalier'. I love my car for what it is. You find me an econobox that costs nothing compared to cars it destroys and is fun and easy to work on. Once people see it and look under the hood and car and see whats been done, most change their opinion of a Cavalier though.

this build is sick..its just going to blow peoples minds that its a 'Cavalier'....in for the drifting videos!

Im really looking forward to seeing this finished!!

To me, once you start seriously modifying anything on a car it really doesnt matter what you started with. Something like a completely built motor, or suspension/chassis work thats extreme, or in this case redoing the whole damn thing! lol.

If youre going to get a car that you want to be fast, and will leave it stock or do the smallest amount of mods possible (intake and maybe catback lets say) then it is kinda important where you start.

This car could be a pinto originally and with all the work done to it its more impressive than a LOT of cars that come out of the factory.

the "its just a...." fall on deaf ears with me 99% of the time.

This build is awesome.

Sorry for the lack of updates, Ive been in the process of installing a turbo setup, fuel cell, pump, Mega Squirt PNP, fixed back seats, harnesses, steering wheel, and injectors on a miata. But here are some recent parts that I have ordered for my car.

Davies Craig electric water pump and programmer.

Remote filler neck for the coolant system.

2"x10"x13" Heat Exchanger for the W/A intercooler.

W/A Intercooler.

2.5 Gallon Ice Box.

STR 514 Gold 17x9+20offset.

Fidanza Flywheel.

PRC 2:1 Steering Quickener.

Two Walbro 255 Fuel Pumps and a High Volume Transfer pump to the Surge tank.

I want to Plasti-Dip the car this color.

oh my good god this just got upped even further! lol love the electric water pump and the heat exchanger set-up. that will be such a better set-up versus just air to air in the back where there IS no effin air.

keep it up man. this build is one of the ones i like the most. because its going to do nothing but drop jaws, raise eyebrows, AND get the loving statement "still just a cavalier" hahahaha

Correct me if I'm wrong but dont the front wheel bearings need the axle and nut torqued to help keep them together?

This should answer your question.

I took two extra axle ends and milled them down.

Im still waiting on my NRG carbon fiber seats, NRG 3.0 quick release, NRG deep dish leather steering wheel, NRG 6-point harnesses, and NRG front/rear tow bars. A HUGE shout out to 9K Racing for sponsoring my car with these NRG products. Cant wait for them to get here so I can get them installed.

But here is my current progress. I switched to a water/air intercooler and mounted the cooler inside behind the drivers seat, with the heat exchanger and icebox mounted in the engine bay due to lack of room inside the car. All of the water lines are installed for the cooler as well as the cooler piping. The steering 2:1 quickener is installed, along with the steering shafts. The fuel cell was relocated 5" closer to the firewall to allow for the radiator duct to vent without heating up the fuel. The new fittings are now welded for the coolant lines that pass through the center of the car. Ordered the silicone adaptor hoses for the new stainless coolant pipes. Fuel surge tank is also mounted and plumbed. And the Eibach sway bar came in for the front suspension. Also need to install the electric water pump digital controller to the firewall and I modified the LSJ valve cover for two -10 AN fittings.

Center coolant pipes with fittings and electric water pump installed.

A close up of the fittings welded to the center coolant pipes.

Intercooler behind the drivers seat.

Icebox and heat exchanger. Icebox is mounted about 8" lower now.

Intercooler pipe welds.

My first attempt at welding stainless.

My fuel surge tank setup looks identical to this, except that my filters are silver and I made my own y-pipe.
