Cavalier Makeover (LOTS of pics)
Sunday, October 22, 2006 10:42 PM
I have been doing a lot of work to my car and taking a lot of suggestions from some j-body
members here. I have done a complete makeover of my car from what it was once like.
Let me know what you think about it now.

exterior

Interior

Amp/Sub

Engine (mostly stock)

17" American Racing Rims (most recent addition... got them for free!)

Powered by Chevy

The 2 most important things in my life come together

Sorry for so many images =P Let me know what you all think about the progress on my car. Also let me know what you think I should do next or what needs
to me improved and/or taken off =)

Upcoming additions are a LED Underbody and Wheel Well kit, LED Interior kit, new 6x9s in the back, a new Stereo, and more dash painting.

Not many people on here like them. I'm sure the cars you saw also had somebody disagree at one time or another. It looks like your off to a good start. A z-24 kit would look good with the rest of your mods.

heres some suggestion i would do before you go any further
-get painted bumpers, if you dont want to kit it i would go with and ls lip kit (i would at least do this before you get all those led's)
-get rid of the altezzas
-take off the emblems on the trunk and hood
-get rid of that chinese sticker
-a little touch up paint on the wheels
-ditch the pin stripe
-clip the zip tie excess on your amp wiring
-lower it
-paint the door handles

not trying to come off as a dick here, just trying to get you in the right direction

I ddint say this before, but I do plan to sell the car in April. Here is my response to thoese suggestions:

-Paint the bumpers: I might do this because I need to get my trunk repainted also. I am going to get it done by a professinal because I screwed up my first time.
-tails: Dont have the old ones. Plus, I appericate the suggestion but I really like them
-Emblems: Trunk one will be coming off soon, possibaly the front
-Decal: Whats worng with the decal =P
-Rims: How would I match the color to do some touchup paint... and keep in mind I got these rims about a week ago as is... for free.
-Pin Stripe: Its stock, very old, and brittle... would be hard to take off without scratching the paint
-Zip ties: DOH... im a idiot
-Lower it: To much money for struts and lowering springs if I am going to sell it... plus I dont know enough about what to buy to do it
-Door handles: Sounds like a solid idea

Kinda looks exactly what "Not TO DO" to a car.

But hey, you mod your car for yourself, no one else...

I just think it looks like sh!t

I wouldn't drive it...even for free as a winter beater.

good luck painting those bumpers. people have a hard time because of the material those bumpers. the paint usually flakes off in about a month or so.

My question is, if you plan on selling the car, why are you putting money into it? Save that money to buy something better man.

But, if you decide not to sell it. There's a couple things I think you should do.

-The rims don't look bad, expecially if you got 'em for free. Definately see if you can get the damage painted on them.
-lose the fog lights, they're ricey
-Either get the bumpers painted professionally or find some painted bumpers at a junkyard. They aren't too hard to find.
-Door handles are nice when painted as well as mirrors.
-Your amp and sub wiring are kinda messy. The box could use some carpeting as well. That whole area just needs some TLC.

Everyone has to start somewhere, glad you're starting with a cavy. Post some pictures when you start fixing up some of the stuff man.

Why, so he can be like everyone else?

I due agree with some of these suggested mods, but it does not mean he needs to due them,

Nice start, can wait to see it progress.

x2

If you are going to sell it, look for some stock tails and a stock dash. Those are going to limit who's willing to buy the car. But seriously, stop putting money into it. You won't get it back.
