Hi All
Thursday, March 31, 2011 11:52 PM
Just picked up a 1999 Cavalier,56,000 km(30,000mi)
2 door,sandrift metallic,15`wheels,air,tilt,cruise,4 spd auto,guages,pwr locks,keyless,spoiler,only a cassette.(weird optioned car)

Bought it for $200.00 but it will not start. Cranks over but does not catch.
I heard this car running last year and it ran perfect. With such low mileage i am unsure what may be wrong. Any ideas!!

To be honest, I haven`t had the time to check anything.
The past owner let Joe Mechanic work on it.
I know that the past owner was complaining about something to do with the computer but that is all I know.
That was before he let Joe work on it.
This guy spent a week going through everything, always telling me that he could find the problem.
He even dis-assembled the ignition switch.
I am going to re-assemble everything he took apart to get back to square one so I can diagnose this properly.
This is why I got it so cheap.
I remember earlier Cav,s had a problem with the plug in to the computer.
Don,t know if the 95 ups do too.
This car was going to be scrapped before I got my hands on it.
Way to nice to go to the crusher.
I will let you know what happens when I get it back together.
I was looking for feedback from those in the know.
Thanks for your response.
Will post a pic shortly.
Regards,Brian.

Fuel pump priming?

Re: Hi All

Had a quick look the other day.

Old owner said he replaced the fuel pump, I hear it when I turn the key on but have not checked it yet.

When you turn the key on the theft light and check engine light are on steady, no flashing.

Did the key on for ten minutes reset but no go.3 times over 30 minutes.

Plugged in a tester and no codes show.

Also has new plugs and wires.

Don`t know where to check for fuel but it is also not getting spark.

Someone has run a wire from the harness under the master cylinder over to the computer and it is live when the key is on but I have not pulled the front cover yet to see what wire they hooked it to.

I really want to get this car going again but it appears that too many people have tampered with it.

I really appreciate your help going thought this.

Regards, Brian.
