Im looking to get a 3800 gtp or park avenue etc, supercharged motor swapped by a local shop in my 2001 cavalier, maybe keeping the stock 2.2 tranny (apparently my friend said it could hold w a machined flywheel). What would be required of the motor swap and what could the costs run for the swap? (for the labor and parts aside; from the actual motor/sc, and possibly 45e-hd trans). I appreciate any help
If you have any information on the 3400 motor conversion as well it would be extremely appreciated. I figure even a lower end V6 motor swap would still be a significant improvement to performance and from what i have seen and researched, it seems recurrent that the 3400 sixty degree motor would be an easier and cheaper fit, and still boost performance significantly from the 2200 motor.
Do a 3500. U can get a lot of power out of those. Guys with their Beretta are doing high 11seconds 1/4mile with it boosted.

easier is relative... you're still swapping in an engine that is much larger than the factory intended, custom fab will be needed, and i'd be more concerned about the wiring differences with the 3500 vs the 3800.

Rich, Custom fabrication for the 3500 is only as much as new engine side mounts. There's a gp feeler in the third generation forum for those, making it easier.
It's the wiring that is a pita.
3500 would be your best bet. I am running a 3400/3500 hybrid. Stock 3400 can handle 20psi with a good tune as a daily driver.

before bstuff.com went down, there was a guy in Illinois who had a supercharged 3800 beretta. it had been that way for some time, he may be on beretta.net there was also a guy who put in a northstar v8. mounted sideways, he had to redo the firewall and other things, and then was attempting to build a 8 port exhaust. i think he quit on the exhaust though. he may be on bnet too. try rettax3.
