1. They're called wheels, get it right.
2. 17x8 is very do-able.
3. How they look depends on the design of the face, not the size of the wheel.
4. Post in the right section
5. USE THE SEARCH BUTTON
6. Welcome to the ORG, now let the flaming commence.

What's wrong with a 205/40/17? Sounds pretty decent on a 17x8 for me.... unless you're looking for more stretch.

What offset did you get them in?

205/40/17 will look retarded, especially since you are stock ride height. You will have about a 2 foot wheelgap..
215/45/17 is what you want, even then it will look silly with it being stock height.

i would run with the 215/45/17 like GTPsunfire said, im running 17X7's wih a 215 wide tire and they are flush with the front face of the rim, so on a 8" wide wheel you will get a little bit of stretch

or if you want more stretch you could also do a 205 45 17, there is very little difference in side wall size .2 of an inch in the difference

Or dont be a bitch and run the proper width tire for 8"pulley wide wheel, 245 minimum.
