Attn: SCCA patrons (rule question inside)

Alright, my transmission went out and at the minimum it would cost me 1500 to have a rebuilt one installed. I can get a sunfire with an ecotec in it cheaper than that and install it. What happens to my classing? Do I just go to the sunfire's class or do I become SM?

I am assuming it is treated as an update/backdate, but I just want a little confirmation.

I think you can go under the Street Prepared update/backdate rule if you swap the engine and transmission together as a complete unit, though I'm not sure if that would bump you to DSP or not...not sure wether the ECOTECs are FSP or DSP?
