Slow e.t. times, help please
Monday, April 18, 2005 5:32 AM
This winter I added a lot to the Z, and i am disappointed. Check out my profile to see the list. I just thought I would be faster. Saturday my best run was a:
R/T ... .501
60' ... 2.263
330 ...
1/8 ... 10.212
MPH ...
1000 ...
1/4 ... 15.821
MPH ... 85.89
I ran 20 some times and I put the top four in my profile.
Tires were set/checked at 28psi, did a little burn out to remove any gravel.
Launched at 2,100 RPM.
Any idea why my times are not faster?
All comments are welcomed.

Well... you've got an automatic Z24 with intake and exhaust. I'm not sure what your venom controller does for you.

Besides that, you've got a whole lot of extra weight in the car with all your stereo equipment and what not.

To top it all off, you've got pretty much a stock suspension.

I'd say the high 15's are pretty good and wouldn't have expected much more from your setup.

Well I believe I have more than just an intake and exhaust. Venom controller does not do @!#$. To lazy to take it back off.

Car weighs 3276 lbs. With me in car. Agreed heavy.

Stock suspension is that bad, that it will hurt my 1/4 mile times?
Thank you for the feedback.

Note that removing the A/C doesn't do anything for you except make your car uncomfortable on hot days. It's a bit of weight savings, but that's it. The pulley spins freely when the A/C is off.

Suspension upgrades definitely help you as you can gain a lot of traction. Any time dropped at the beginning can be double or more at the end.

If you can't stick the power to the ground, it's not helping you much, right? I gained a couple 10ths just by lowering my front coilovers.

I was not hinting for the A/C compressor and piping. It still makes me laugh when I think about the story. I was talking about header/high flow cat, motor mounts, and b&m shift plus, but that is besides the point.
Well i guess i know where my next pay check is going. Eibach Pro kit, and some adjustable struts.
If i dropped say 300 pounds I know i would be faster, but how much faster you think?

Header and cat are both part of the exhaust.

The B&M kit is probably a noticeable helper though.

As a rule of thumb, every 100 lbs will give you a 10th in the quarter. I have no idea how scientific that is though.

I wouldn't be too disappointed---15s in an auto is nothing to be ashamed of, especially if you ran with your stereo stuff and whatnot in the car.

Yeah, ran with everything in there, spare, jack , amp sub/box, and everything else.
Just Want low 15's, but do not want to remove anything.

I draw the line at removing stuff that's supposed to be a part of the car... like the seats.

I remove everything that's meant to be removable, like the spare tire and jack and anything else in the trunk as well as emptying the console and glove box.

Get rid of the venom 400 crap. it might actually be hurting your times. I had the Jet module (which is the same thing) in my 2.4 GA and actaully ran slower when it was turned on.

I do not use it, found out it hurt my top end. Just been to lazy to take it out.
Thanks though..

You have an auto, dude. Those are decent times for what you got. Also the Venom 400 Controller was a waste of money. My buddy had it in his z24 and another buddy had it in his honda, they both said it was worthless. But those are decent time, cause you only have only simple bolt on's. So instead of that 300 dollars you payed to get that vemon POS, you shouldve saved 200 more and get yourself a nitrous kit, 35 or 50.

As stated good times for a auto Z. Suspension can help for sure. As for the AC being removed that can help free up soem rotating mass. Nice times.

As stated before i know my 400 is a piece, i do not use it. Thanks again.
I see nothing wrong with an auto, and I'm not a fan of nitrous kit.

Thinking about selling system then getting lowering springs and adjustable struts.
