First T1-R equipped Cavalier in North America?
Sunday, May 08, 2005 11:52 AM
Just got my street / rainy autox tires. Toyo Proxes T1-R! They're supposed to be even better then the T1-S, which was already an amazing tire.

The dealer tells me that I most likely have the first Cavalier equipped with T1-Rs in North America, since the cavy stock size (205/55/R16) hasn't been released in the States yet, and I got the first set of that size to come out of the warehouse in Canada. Sweet. Once I get them scrubbed in a little, I'll let you know how they are.

Does anyone know what the largest size tire is that will fit on a stock LS rim, the 10 spoke with the factory RSA's (205 55 16)

The largest tire your giong to find in that range is probably a 255/50/16. I don't know how well that would work on a 6" wide wheel, but a 225/50/16 should fit.

Actually, yeah, I would like a cookie right now. I just thought it was an interesting item worth a mention, and I did say I hadn't scrubbed them in yet, and I'd give a review when I did. Maybe the autoxing community is interested in when / where these tires are now available, eh?

Hey I think I am going to be the first Cavalier with Yokohama 048's on pretty soon. Can I have a cookie from the hero up there?

ah, quit your crying, and go hit some cones......

225/50/16's are the biggest that can fit on our stockers, and in our wheel wells.

I'm in Aruba right now on business, but destroying some comes is first thing on my to-list when I get home later this month.

At a 3" drop with 3deg neg camber, even my undersized 225/45/15 race tires would rub on any bumps when at full steering lock. I've now raised the car up to 2.25" drop, and reset the camber to -1deg inbetween each race, and I rarely ever rub with 205/55/16, but it does occasionally does happen.
