Had some problems at the track...13.065@103

Well I took the car to the track for the first time this season and the first time with the new intercooler and 3.0" s/c pulley. I ended up getting a personal best with a 13.065@103 but I lost 5 MPH from last year.

The car was running alright at the first of the day (13.1's@107) but I was expecting much better with the new mods. We discovered that the s/c belt was slipping alot, rubber shavings all over the engine bay. A friend of mine went into town and grabbed a smaller belt. Once we threw that on the problems started. The car would buck and studer all through 3rd and 4th gear, btw that is not even half way down the track for me. I had the scanner with me at the track and I ended up hitting 15 degrees of knock!!! I could actually hear the knock from the engine myself. That means that the PCM was pulling timing and costing me about 30hp. We have some therys as to what the problem is but it looks like my exhaust is the biggest thing. I'm thinking that I am just pushing too much air into the engine and not enough is getting out. I am still running stock manifolds and only 2.5" exhaust so next on the list is a set of headers and a full 3" exhaust with a cut out for the track. I'm also going to be ordering the DHP power tuner so that I can fine tune everything at WOT. Overall though I was pretty happy with the car. Once I can get these issues worked out the car should be good for mid 12's all day long.

Here is a pic of the scan tool screen from the track, as you can see the KR values are very high.

Sorry for the poor quality pic, the headings above are as follows...
Spark Advance Knock Retard
RPM A/F
LTFT O2 B1S2 (front O2 sensor)
IPW STFT

Here is a vid I have of the car doing a 13.1 pass @ 107 with a slipping s/c belt.

lol...yeah the announcer was pretty cool, they were loving the car all day long. I guess I could remove the protective film but it's not my scanner and at $11,000 I'm not removing anything without the owners permission.

Wow...15* of knock with the intercooler.

Get that fixed and I think you should easily be mid 12's with your mods (without N2O/ traction limited )

There is a solution for you GOODYEAR GATORBACK belts they are the strongest and are the best out there for S/C applications they grip like a mofo

The real fix would be to get a larger idler pulley. My friend has one and has no slip at all with a 2.75 pulley. Slipping may also be a result of what kind (manufacturer) of pulley you have. Different ones are groved differently.

I usally do run Gaterback belts (always loved them) but the one that we swapped out at the track was a dayco (took what we could find). It doesn't really matter now though, there is no slip on the belt thats for sure.
