My first time at the Track, not to bad I think
Thursday, June 02, 2005 9:47 PM
On my First run I only gave about 80% like how a good guide I read said and I got
R/T ... .294
60' ... 2.402
330 ... 6.879
1/8 ... 10.377
MPH ... 71.24
1000 ...
1/4 ... 15.805
MPH ... 91.47

then I my next two runs I tried harder ...
R/T ... .157
60' ... 2.382
330 ... 6.660
1/8 ... 10.166
MPH ... 69.03
1000 ...
1/4 ... 15.957
MPH ... 84.32

and I relized that when I slammed through the gears the clutch would break loose until I let up then I put it down that little bit again to activate the sray and it slips again. so I did one more run trying to be as easy on the clucth to engage as possible but it still slipped quite a bit and I got...
R/T ... .549
60' ... 2.394
330 ... 6.769
1/8 ... 10.259
MPH ... 71.84
1000 ...
1/4 ... 15.673
MPH ... 90.03

still slower MPH at the finish but shorter time, and better reaction time I think
I was happy with the results and feel that I can still go faster with a new clutch, I thinking Stage 3 will be nice

If you want to see the time slips I have them scanned in on my Car Domain site here

Nice job man , I love seeing people go with the 2200/2.2, nothing against the twincam crowd I just like the under dog .

What shot nitrous did you use?
Good for a 2200 i'll give ya.

Either way it's still kinda slow.

that was on the 75 shot, stock fuel system, but I plan on dropping the tank this weekend and installing the Blazer fuel pump to increase volume a bit

I run about the same 1/8 with no nitrous

Basic bolt ons on a highmilage 2,2

^ No you don't. 10.1 and 10.3 is a big difference.
10.3 1/8 with a slower trap = about a second slower in the quarter.

Your retarded if you think its a second slower in the 1/4.

Mine
R/T ... .636
60' ... 2.379
330 ... 6.721
1/8 ... 10.362
MPH ... 67.549
.
HIS
R/T ... .294
60' ... 2.402
330 ... 6.879
1/8 ... 10.377
MPH ... 71.24

HIS
R/T ... .157
60' ... 2.382
330 ... 6.660
1/8 ... 10.166
MPH ... 69.03

Looks pretty darn close to me and i have NO nitrous. All i see is a 15.6-15.9. With my times im running 15.8-16.2's. Without nitrous.

Either your clutch is TOASTED, or YOU CANT DRIVE or You didnt even spray through 75% of the track!

The clutch cant hold any amount of power, I was going on and off of the gas just to try to keep it from slipping, it easily breaks loose with out nitrous now, so no cherping the tires until this arrives
Then I'm back off to the track!

dude, if you're running a 75 shot and only doing 15.6, turn in your keys. PJ has a 2200 on crappy price-club tires and he was running 16.2 with just bolt ons, and now 15.7 after a port job on the head. And thats with a slipping clutch.

90-91 MPH is/should be good for between a 14.8 and a 15.1. You've got a lot of practice ahead of you.

A 10.1 1/8 would equate to a mid to high 15 sec run with an ecotec. He also has more power than a stock ecotec. (let's say) :185 crank horsepower. To your 120 hp. Now what you're saying is that 75 extra horsepower in the top end won't net him a lower time. If you don't think that's so, you are ignorant. And yes I am retarded.

Oh, PS: EACH TRACK IS DIFFERENT, WITH DIFFERENT CONDITIONS AND SUCH!
I bet if you raced at the same track, he would be more than a second faster than you.

More than a second...How do you figure that when his times and mine are right there? No IF this or IF that...Im saying...There are the times right there!! Regardless of his clutch or his driving...thats what he ran and thats what i ran....Hes not a second faster now and thats what im saying..

Tracks are different but there not off by seconds ya dummy!!

ehh, ignorant people *shakes head*

and the only if is if you raced at the same track you WOULD get Smoked.

I give up with you. You obviously don't see that his horsepower advantage would net him a way faster time than yours. .2 sec in the 1/8 adds up big time in the 1/4

that be I

definetly get that clutch taken care of... on a 75 shot your car's got A LOT more in it I'll tell you that much

here's my best 3 time slips

R/T ... .217
60' ... 2.2
330 ... 6.504
1/8 ... 10.06
MPH ... 69.05

1000 ... 13.065
1/4 ... 15.785
MPH ... 85.8

R/T ... .396
60' ... 2.249
330 ... 6.53
1/8 ... 10.085
MPH ... 69.25

1000 ... 13.083
1/4 ... 15.801
MPH ... 85.86

R/T ... .605
60' ... 2.216
330 ... 6.486
1/8 ... 10.043
MPH ... 69.06

1000 ... 13.045
1/4 ... 15.769
MPH ... 85.57

my mods at these runs:

RSM intake
B&M short throw
RK sport upper and lower motor mounts
4:1 header, full 2.25" exhaust (no cat)
MSD blaster coils, magnecore wires, iridium spark plugs
port and polished head with SS valves (stock diameter)
JBP chromoly retainers, locks, silicon race springs
chromoly pushrods
crap ass tires aired down to like 19psi or lower I forget...
aired UP rear tires (like 44psi)
full interior, removed spare and jack
1/2 tank of gas

yea I need new tires and a new clutch then you'll see some 15.4s or faster

on a 75 shot and 90mph traps you should def be high 14s or faster... don't let me down man

Yah, I will bring a tank of compressed air with me next time so I can play with the tires, I will also remove the spare tire and jack, and have only 1/4 tank of gas, it was about 3/4 because I wanted to get there and back

Are you at a higher altitude? I'd be mad if I spent 8 grand in my motor and all I'm pulling off is 15.6...there should be something you can improve on. Good luck to you.

First, I misread his profile...I thought it said he spent 8 grand on upgrading his motor...I misread it.

Second, that's not funny at all Jay. That previous comment wasn't even necessary.

Third, you won't be making jokes in a few months.

Overall, next time just keep your smart comments to yourself.

And to "Pushrods & Nitrous", decents times for the money spent. Good luck with your track progress.

I would surely agree with the clutch. Even my old 2200 by the time I raced it (since I had learned how to drive and race on that clutch) I had burnt it out pretty bad and I could feel it slip away. Hell even with out changing modifications it has dropped about a half second over the last year. I say change the clutch and let us know what you do. With what I read in your mods list and your nitrous I would say you are good for a high 14 to low 15 second car, but then again depends on the driver also. Good luck with the car and I'm glad to see you are still trying where I gave up because of an amazing deal.

91 mph trap speed with a 15.8 can mean a few things. Either missed a gear, slipping clutch or no traction. Either way a 91 mph trap is good for a 14 sec pass... Id say mid 14s . . .

I'll work on that
And my new clutch should help when it gets here, btw I haven't received an e-mail notifing if it has been shipped yet, you should have recieved payment last wednesday (6/7/05) by 3:00 PM and the check should have cleared by Friday, or evan by today, why have i recieved no notification?

As far as I can determine the track was at 920 ft
