Can anybody actually drive? I had a Stage 3 SPEC clutch, never had an issue driving it. Wasn't hard at all.

BTW, Control Arm bushings worked good.

O noes!

Yea i got my stage 3 in and i dont find it hard at all, the pedal is nice and soft, it does grab hard but you can still slip it to drive just like grandma if you want to.. you just have to me way more gentle if you want an easy drive... I havnt stalled or "accidentally" burned out yet with it. People make it out to seem like its way harder to drive than it really is.

wheel hop is caused partially by compression/rebound along the forward horizontal axis of the car (any suspension component that has a load pushing on it toward the rear of the car, particularly control arm bushings and motor mounts), and partly by poor traction. When the tires start to catch, they will load up the loose suspension components like a huge collective spring... if the torque of the engine overpowers the tires at this point they slip, which allows the loaded suspension components to push forward again, which in turn helps the tires to catch, and the cycle repeats.... this is wheel hop. Get better tires, harder bushings and mounts, and you'll be good to go.

I'm curious to know what 60' time you're running... Really, if you're launching at 2500 rpm, and getting wheel hop, either you're dumping the clutch, getting on the gas too hard too soon, or your tires are absolute dirt. Its probably a combo of the three, but it sounds like tires, motor mounts, suspension bushings, and lots of practice should be in your near future

lowered my tire pressure to 20 p.s.i and nearly eliminated the hop. 60 ft times? 2.2981 my best reaction is .2305 and my best 1/4 mile is 15.86 @ 86.06 mph. of course i cant achieve all of these at once but i am working on it. only been to the track 3 nights.

I can't speak specifically for the j-bodies, but for 99-04 [mustang] cobras, there are sevel things that need to be done to combat wheel hop (the cause for the hop is the same for the cavalier as the mustang so the fixes should be similar -- Jersey Jay pointed out the reason exactly in his post):

1) Bushings. Delrin works great! This prevents the suspension from flexing under load. You'll get a bit more NVH with delrin rather than poly bushings, but we all want to go fast, right?
2) Springs. Obviously you want stiffer springs.
3) Shocks. Double adjustables are great.
4) Sticky tires -- DRs at the least
5) Upgraded halfshafts. Doesn't prevent hop, but will prevent breakage due to hop
