first time at the track..

Went with a bunch of jboi guys tonight to the track some guys got some good numbers the 3400 swap crew pulled in some 14s and such.

Mods:
Automatic
AEM CAI
Motor mounts
Pacesetter 4:1 ceramic header
full 2.25 exhaust
Shiftplus

16.438 with my 18s on
Second best run was my first run actually with a 16.458

Started to get my R/Ts down by the end of the night pretty well, went from being over .5s to .2something pretty low, even got a .130 once

I was a little disappointed with the times, but always room for improvement

won and lost about 50/50, got beat by a turbo rsx that only did like 15.5, an all motor neon rt ran a 15.7 on one of my slower runs of the night, altho I would have been a long ways off still.

beat a dodge stealth, grand am gt, and a manual 03 cavy.

I can see how it gets addicting to race, i enjoyed myself tonight.

not to burst ur bubble but reaction times dont matter. i could sit at the tree for 3 seconds and still run a 15 something. its all about the 60ft times. but the autos the 3rd gear doesnt ride out i dont tihnk so thats normally a problem.correct me if i'm wrong with that one.

i kno r/t doesnt matter, but i guess to me its the thought that counts with that, there was one race where i thought they beat me, but it was just my r/t was slower and my time was better overall.

Next time I will be putting on some lighter wheels, but for a first time, i enjoyed it.

I'm fuzzy on the whole reaction time part of 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile drag racing. Watching NHRA Pro stock Cavaliers(and now Cobalts) drag race their nemesis Grand Am's and Stratus's, they win on quarter mile time, but lose the race on reaction time(a hole shot). Can anyone explain this me? I have also noticed Cobalts seem to be doing better than the Cavaliers this year, which I think is due to aerodynamics at 200+mph?

it amazes me how many people don't know that the run time does not start with the green light, but when the car actually leaves the line.

When that light changes to green, you can sit there for 30 seconds before leaving, but it won't effect your ET at all. The timer for the run does not start until your front wheels have actually passed the starting line and allowed the beam to reconnect. The ET shown is only the time from when the car leaves the line to when it crosses the traps, and does not include the time between when the light turned green and when the car actually goes.

So if a car gets a perfect reaction time of 0.000 seconds, and runs an 8.000 second ET, it will make it to the finish line before a car that ran a 7.900 second ET with a .195 reaction time, because the first car took 8 seconds from green light to the finish, whereas the second car took 8.095 seconds from the green light to the finish.

You could probably drop .4 easily just by ditching the 18's.

i understand how r/t works heck i won a couple of the races altho i finished after them, just had a better overall time.

I figure the 18s slowed me down some, gonna find some stock 15s to use in the future.
