Sub 2.00 sec 60' NA Cavalier

Yep we did it, just a few weeks ago. Brand new BFGoodrich Drag Radials 205 50 15's, with 4200 rpm launches and 6200 shifts, broke the 2 sec zone at least 3 times. The best 3 runs are posted in my profile. the other 2 60's are 1.939 and 1.989, one was a 1/8 mile run and the other was a 1/4 mile run.

Its been a VERY awesome year, we improved 1.02 sec and over 5 mph from 2004. I also want to mention that this car is still ALL MOTOR, and the motor is STOCK with about 1400 miles on it.

2004 2005
60' 2.107 1.955
330' 6.397 5.987
1/8 9.969 9.312
MPH 70.94 74.85
1000' 13.071 12.213
1/4 15.694 14.670
MPH 87.14 92.78

I think what is in his registry is whats going into the motor he is building for his car, not whats in it currently.

then what did he do to his car to achieve 14.6 ? because we all know no stock eco can do this, even with slicks. He has to have some kind of power adders.

Ben Wenzel, good times but spill the beans please !

nope. Notice how he doesn't trap a whole hell of a lot higher than you do. I think he was still using the factory exhaust manifold even. He DID have a welded diff and radials, and the car was gutted. Other than that i think it was a good selection of tire compound and sizing (smaller to get a bigger fdr) and some pretty solid driving.

LambofGoddess has only an intake and catback on STOCK tires and was running 15.089, with only the rear seat, passenger seat, and rear trunk carpeting removed. Gut her car and put it on radials and I'll guarantee you she could run very close with Ben.

I know the motor is all stock!!!! I work with Ben on the car. My cousin Ben is a very good driver and knows when to shift the car. Every thing play into the game. The weather plays a big factor when its cool out the car makes power.

for all the non believers, me and ben talk all the time, and he indeed is no BSer. i also saw him run at the bash, and saw him run 15.0s there, when i could only cut 15.7 at my best(when home, my current best is 15.0 now).

but watch out ben, i'm right behind you

If you think we have the new motor in the car look at Bens profile and see that the new block, pistons are NOT in the car. IT IS BONE STOCK. ask the FORD 5.0s that get tail lights from the RED ROCKET!!!!! At Mid Mich Motorplex.

now I kinda see why he's so fast.

Man, what is it with "secrets", what is the point in hiding what made your car perform better ? I just hate it when someone claims extraordinary times but won't tell us how he achieved it (not saying you do Ben).

Anyway, congrats Ben on your times, I look forward in seeing more n/a times from you !

I want to thank everyone who responded.

Im not trying to hide anything, i believe my profile is up to date to the best of my knowledge.

The first time out with the car, it went 16.4's. Since then started buying simple bolt on parts, and the times got better (15.69 best 2004) then last winter i removed alot of weight. Spending over $2000 didn't seam like a whole lot. Straped on the new suspension, clutch, and flywheel and first time out went a 15.40 ish, WOW that already beat last years time. A goal i made to myself was to better my time by 1 sec in the 1/4 mile. I thought WOW 14.69 that is awesome, never really thought that was going to happen, now just a few short months later after another tranny and a drivers side axle, we set new personal best times everytime we hit the track.

I guess alot of you didn't really notice the car at first, anything is possible, to take a stock car and do amazing things with it.

Awesome times!

May I ask what all you did to the tranny...? You said you replaced the flywheel...Is the one you put in lightweight? or just another stock one. And did the suspension mods help the 1/4 times at all?

Hey Ryan,

The tranny is just a replacement tranny, had to buy another one to replace a hole in the case and for a new differential.

The Alum flywheel is from SPEC. the car revs faster, but if you do not raise your launch rpm's the car may bog, the weight of the factory clutch and flywheel - 33lbs, the weight of the SPEC Stage IV and Alum flywheel - 20lbs .

In my opinion the suspension was the biggest improvement! Instead of the car squating in the rear like 3 inches on launch, it only squads maybe 1 inch, which keeps more front traction. Going back and watching videos you could see every time i shift, now you have to listen because the car doesn't squat, just a little on launch

In 2004, i was launching about 3500 with about 18psi and factory suspension and 60' best was 2.10, In 2005 im now lauching around 4200 with about 12psi and koni yellow, on the STIFFest setting and 60' in the low 2.0's EVERY run, except at indy, those were in the 2.1's.

xlambofgoddessx says each decal adds 5hp, just wait till next year , thanks Mandy
