you are going to have to get an some perfect launchs if you want 14s with those mods. i have an 04 eco with header, cat back, aem intake, koni sport kit suspenion, both motor mounts and bigger tb and so far all i could do at the track is mid 15's. my launches weren't very good with 2.38 60 foot. you are going to have to have a very low 2.2 60 foot or 2.1. you also should go to a track that is at a pretty low altitude. stripping your car helps too; take out the passenger seat and the back seats spare tire and jack, floor mats if you have them, and any crap thats in your car. also, try to talk with lamb of goddess she has broke into the 14's with very few mods. good luck!

Take those 16s off and put some 14s on. Then you will be runnin' 14s all day!

Well, Mandy (lamb of goddess) has a 1SV, which is the incredibly light, baser than base model.... she also weighs probably way less than 130 lbs.... her car is on the heavy end of 2400 lbs when equipped with no rear seat, no passenger seat, and no spare and 1/4 tank of gas. We also are fortunate enough to race at ATCO Raceway, which is close to sea level.

She had, at the time of her 14.9's, rksport intake, rksport 4-2-1 header, highflow cat, borla cat back exhaust, and upper and lower motor mounts.... That was it. It was about 40 degrees outside if i remember also.

Your car being an LS Sport, will be probably at least a hundred pounds heavier, and you yourself are probably at least 50 lbs heavier than her... Not saying its impossible for you to run 14's with what you have, but it would take A LOT of practice and some really awesome driving.

Best thing I can tell you is to go to your local track as often as possible and spend as much time working on your launch and shifts as you can. You want to leave the line with as minimal tire spin as possible without bogging. Do a search for "drag launch" and you'll probably get a lot of good posts with people's techniques.

If you were to take a few runs at the track and then weigh your car (most tracks have a scale you can use, just ask the staff where it is), let us know the weight and trap speed and i can give you a pretty good idea what you need to run a 14...

Why do I get forgotten ? I squeeked out a 14.89 in mine. I'm running a 04 with a 5spd with an Injen intake, a Pacesetter header with 2 1/2 inch exhaust and a high flow cat. A mildly ported head and a solid lower mount. And I've had the ECU worked on a little. When I race it I remove the interior stuff like mentioned above and put my 15's back on. Yeah its a pain but its fun to see the looks on peoples faces at Capital when a Cavalier runs a 14. Cams are next in line

Weight reduction is the cheapest hp to a point. For every loss of one hundred pounds = about .1 sec faster time. It doesnt matter if your car weights 4000 lbs, its a general rule. My car weights about 2450 lbs. with me in it, i weight about 220lbs. Sure I have alot of mods, but everytime i bolted on a new part I maximized the output of that part. If you happen to check out my website www.benwenzeljr.com you can see that i have over 200 runs, so I have alot of seat time. My car was not fast at first, check out my 2004 season. I guess what I want to say is that anyone can have a 14 sec ECOTec 5 speed, how much do you want to spend? and how much weight are you willing to remove? thats all I can think of for now.

Hey Terry, quick question... who'd you have to do your "slight ECU work"? I'm fairly interested as mid-high 14's are my ultimate goal too... I don't have uber high goals for this car... at least not right now.
