Friday night fun....
Saturday, June 10, 2006 11:34 AM
Got 5 runs in before the downpour started, 3 good runs without missing 2nd... None of the runs were great, I was shifting into 2nd waaaaay to early and the slicks need some VHT. I'm running a very conservative advance curve (21* total timing) and probably will have to play with my cam timing some more... looking at Ben's timeslips he has me at the 1/8mile mark, but I'm running him down by the end of the 1/4.... Once I hit 3rd, the car gets some serious balls, pulls hard all the way through the traps at 7500rpm ish. I was shocked to see a 94.6xx mph, thats HUGE mph for what the car is, considering my 60'sucked thanks to spin and then bog.

First pass was a 14.6xx@94.6x (lost the timeslip) with a 2.1xx 60ft...

Then I got 14.585@93.22 finally with a decent 60ft... 1.972 still spinning the slicks hard launching at 6000rpm, but without bog.

Last pass before it started raining... a nice 14.640@92.85 also with a 1.960, spinning all the way through first and into 2nd.

And then the rain started, first a slow drizzle... then a downpour... changing slicks soaking wet is really not fun.

Then the way home a wire chaffed across the something metal under the dash, shorted and bam, I popped the main ignition fuse... very scary! Major props to Justin (Abby87Z24 or whatever here) for delivering a new fuse.

well you must have hit the 7500 just after the finish 7k flat is 94mph, that is awesome for an NA eco!

I trap 94.388 mph with only CAI/Header/Exhaust and very light rims

It was my first time at the track with my cavy.

your trap speed will actually be higher the slower your 60' times are

only when you're running stock size tires... typically people run slicks that are an inch or two smaller in diameter to give the effect of a numerically higher gear ratio. So if Owen's slicks are shorter than stock, that could easily be 96 or so mph on normal sized street tires. Definitely not bad at all. Now just need to strip that bitch to the floorboards and get some more seat time in. Owen, is the tuning 100% yet or are you still running a base tune?

wow all these changes to the forum lately and still no edit button huh?

Just as an aside, I've seen early 4.6L mustangs trapping in that neighborhood, so for an all motor 4 banger, i'd be pretty happy with it.
