Harness Bar
Saturday, October 13, 2007 1:07 PM
I just installed a set of racing seats in the Cav and the stock belts kinda suck now, so I want to install a 4 point racing harness in ikt but I need the bar to hook them to. I can't afford like 200+ for the ones I've seen so has anyone ever made there own?

i think hes laughing cus theres no way your going to get a REAL bar for less than 200..now..you COULD always go and get some PVC pipe but if your going to do that you might as well use pringle cans cus it isnt going to help..the only prefabed bar ive seen is like 220$ ..other than that youll have to have one custom made..unless im just left outta the loop we dont have much of other options

well I've seen posts here regarding the measurments needed for one so I thought maybe someone took some steel tube and made one.

its funny how cheap you are when it comes to life saving safety devices.... When you use a harness bar for mounting the harness if you crash that bar needs to be able to withstand the force of the impact.... the $220 one thats out there isn't sold as a harness bar becasue they don't want the responsibility if it fails in a crash, its not D.O.T. aproved to be safe. Even that isn't a real good option but its absolutely pathetic that you would spend money modifying the car throwing racing seats in ect.. but your so cheap you want to try to make things the car NEEDS to be safe. If your asking how to make one and saying $200 is to much money then you simplely do not have the knowledge to make something safe. If your gonna rig up something please leave the passenger side stock seat belt in there... its bad enough to endanger yourself becasue your cheap its NOT ok to danger someone else becasue of it.

I wasn't trying to act like I'm just to damn sheap and I'm sure 200 is the amount a decent setup costs. I just figured since I read in another post here about someone else having the idea if anyone actually did.

Go HERE and check out the harnesses. Some don't require a bar like the Ralleye 3 and 4's and are under $200. They attach to points under the rear seat.

Ideally you do not want your harness at more than a 45* angle once they go through the seat. If it's a lot more than that it's super dangerous.

Sorry I'm not trying to bring back the dead but here is my harness bar ,
It bolts into the stock seatbelt holes and the harness bolts into the back of the harness bar ..

If you would like to see more pics just click on my cardomain page .

It wouldn't be that hard to fab one up.

I had to fab one for my Integra. Most of the materials I bought at Lowe's.
