Finally got to the Track
Saturday, June 21, 2008 7:40 PM
So I got to the 1/4 mile for the first time today...first time ever running on a track...first run was brutle...had a 2 sec reaction time cause the green light was burnt out and I didn't know and was waiting for it...first run was around a 16.5 (can't remember exactly right now, the slips are in my car)...my best run for the day was a 14.24 but the mile/hr didn't show up for some reason...my reaction time was 0.889, and 60 foot was around a 2.45...most of my other mile an hours were around 93 when I was running hight 14's and 15 flat....I am heading back tommorow morning for the second day of racing...by the end of the day I got my reaction time down to 0.640 but couldn't get good launches....so I am hoping I can get my reaction tme, and 60 foot down...thinking I will be able to pull off a 14.0 or 14.1 if I get a good run tommorow...my engine mounts and control arm bushings came in today so hoping to get them on soon with my suspension so hopefully that will help with my launches and 60 foot...I was only one other sport compact there today, a neon with nitrous with 400hp that runs 12.5 but he blew he clutch...was talking to him later in the day and he has a set of racing slicks he would sell me for 150 so I may try them tommorow if he brings them...had a couple bags of ice to throw on the s/c to cool it down some, definately need alky injection soon to help out with the temps...wish there was some more sport compact there cause running against a 11 sec camaro with slicks isn't the best matchup...ran with another camaro with slicks and I stuck with him pretty good...took him out of the hole but took me up top...hopefully tommorow goes well and I can get my times down, I'll post tommorow with some updates.

Well I do believe something is fishy...went back to the track today and my fastest run was a 15.0...not sure whats going on...the charger did get warm so we put ice on it...cooled it down a lot but didn't seem to make a difference....got a lot of wheel hop today, looking forward to getting me engine mounts and control arm bushings in...checked my tire pressure today and it was 36 so put it down to 32...knocked a 10th off my 60 foot with the lower tire pressure...my highest mph today was a 94.33 but normally ran around 91mph...these are my best times for the 2 days (excluding my ET slip of 14.252):

Reaction: 0.634
60 ft: 2.327
660 ft: 9.773
990 ft: 12.494
MPH: 94.33
ET: 15.012

My 14.252 run had similar times as my average of all my runs, this is what I got on my 14.252 run:

Reaction: 0.889
60 ft: 2.559
660 ft: 10.023
990 ft: 12.814
MPH: ?? unknown - didn't show up
ET: 14.252

This is my average for the 2 days:

Reaction: 0.826
60 ft: 2.488
660 ft: 10.028
990 ft: 12.779
MPH: 91.47
ET: 15.32

Some of these averages included some slow runs, had a hard time hooking up...not sure if something is wrong with the car or what, but it seems to be running pretty good... but I am planning on heading back to a track as soon as I get my mounts and bushings on...I am going to play with my tire pressure the next time I go to the track...thinking the alky injection would make quite a difference so I am going to look into that soon...If anyone has some comments or suggestions that would be great.

Damn, either your car is a factory freak or there was a screw up with that 14.252 run. Not trying to be a dick, but I dont think anyone has ever ran that fast with the m45 specially without alchy. I have more mods than you and my best is a 14.8 on a crappy track day, but Im also auto. But your running very fast for what you have, specialy with those 60' times.

What was the temperature? I see 2 more psi when it is 60 degrees F or cooler.
Where are you located? Diferent tracks run times depending on sea level and what not. Also, I have a friend with a neon with nitrous that runs a 12.5 but hes only around 200whp lol; he also has a set of slicks for sale hahaha.
How much boost were you seeing throughout the night?

If all those times are correct with the mods you have, Id say your car is a freak. Get an alchy kit, even smaller sc pulley, and a good tune and Id think you could break some m45 ld9 records.

Looking back over your runs, some of these dont make any sense, hah. The track is screwy or maybe you mixed some of the up on accident lol. Sorry if I seem like Im coming off as a dick, just trying to figure all this out.

On your 14.252 run, your 1000' time is slower than all your other runs. And a 15.012 at over 94mph? Your third run you posted seems about right mph wise, but not at a 15.32 but it could be cause of the bad 60' time.

What im thinking is, find a point where you feel is the best to launch/shift and go back and make runs in one day and try to get some consistant times.

I ran my car in Cape Breton at the airport...funny u say a guy has a 12.5 neon with slicks forsale cause there was a guy there with a 12.5 neon with nitrous who was selling a set of slicks...and the first times were my best from all 13 runs I made...so my best 60 ft is 2.327 from all my runs...it had all my best times from the whole weekend and came from different runs...is the guy with the neon who is selling the slicks named soupy???

The guys who have ran high 13's with the m45 were either on a built motor and/or nitrous. Also alchy is a must with the m45 since you cant use a heat exchanger with it.

yeah, I am looking into alky injection and some slicks...I had bags of ice to throw on the charger between runs but not sure how much it actually helped, but it sure did cool the charger down...I am going to go to the track in PEI and put my tire pressure lower than 32...I am pretty sure I can get into the 14.5-14.8 range if I get a better launch...this was my best time of the day

Reaction: 0.966
60 ft: 2.458
660 ft: 9.773
990 ft: 12.513
MPH: 93.36
ET: 15.012

If I can get my 60 ft down in the 2.2 range I would knock of about 5-6 tenths of my ET...Pretty sure there is a test and tune coming up soon so I will have to take a trip...It was pretty hot the second day at the races and the buddy next to me had a mustang and it was running 2 tenths slower on the 1/4 just cause it was hotter and he was stock except for a chip...so I can only imagine what mine would have been like without the alky...anyways, I'll have to get back and practice...I'll repost when I get some updates.

this seems VERY fishy to me on my NA 2.4 my best run was a 15.11@90.95mph BUT

my 60' was a 2.02 and my 660 was a 9.74.........for 4mph i do not buy these times at all

scan these slips and post

yeah...my buddy and I figured out that it must have been a screw up...maybe the tree messed up or something cause I had other runs with better raction times, 60ft, 660ft, and 990 ft and I only ran a 15.0...I need to get my 60 ft down in the low 2's and then I will run where I want to (right around 14.5).
