I would like to know the E/T time, for the next time at the strip, and all the good information to know about modification on a 3400. Information for 3400 are relatively hard to find, even on this website. ( Sorry for my english, I am from Québec )
well the 3400 is gonna have different hp and tq ratings depending what vehicle the engine came out. Heres a list i made to help.
HORSEPOWER TORQUE
180 hp (134 kw) @ 5200 rpm 205 lb-ft (278 Nm) @ 4000 rpm (Impala/Monte Carlo)
175 hp (131 kw) @ 4700 rpm 205 lb-ft (278 Nm) @ 4000 rpm (Grand Am GT)
170 hp (127 kw) @ 4700 rpm 200 lb-ft (271 Nm) @ 4000 rpm (Grand Am, Alero)
185 hp (138 kw) @ 5200 rpm 210 lb-ft (285 Nm) @ 4000 rpm (Venture, Montana/Aztek, Rendezvous, Silhouette)
With this engine in a cavalier 5spd i would expect low 15's mabe high 14's depending how well its tuned. This is the easiest swap on 1st and 2nd gens that came with the v6's, but in 3rd gens it will require some work. these engines are capable of producing 300+ hp with upgrades and tuning.
My Best is 15.100 @ 92.79. I have trouble hooking up and keep hitting the rev limiter, so there's room for improvement for sure.
My dyno at the bash said 193hp and around 225 ft/lbs to the wheels. Though, I personally think that is a bit high. But at least I was consistant on all my pulls vs. a 3100 car, holding about 20hp higher.

Actually the main reason for the power differences are because of exhaust and factory tunes. The engines themsevles are all very consistent parts wise. Plus there is really a lot more to it than that. Year to year changes account for a lot, and the best 3400s are 2003s and newer. They got a lot of revised parts that were carried over to the 3500 engine, such as a revised camshaft, for one, plus GM started using better LIM gaskets in 2002 and on.

As for times its going to be all driver. If you suck you will be slow.
