89' chevy s10?

Did they make a v8 for the chevy s10? I'm gonna say its around then 1989 model? There is a kid around town that asks everyone to race and brags about having a v8. I wasn't too confident in his bragging about having a v8 so i thought i'd get second thoughts. I know for a fact he did no swapping or modding of any kind so it would have to be a stock 89? chevy s10.

I'll give him one thing.. he's got a chevy.

IF they did make the chevy s10 v8 then there is no way a 2.2L ecotec would win the race with the minor mods i have, correct?

4.3 v6 I think no V8

IIRC 89-93 was all the same model.

engines listing from Wiki

1986–1993 2.8 L 60° V6, TBI 125 hp (93 kW) 150 ft·lbf (203 N·m) R
1988–1995 4.3 L GM 262inch 4300cc V6, TBI 150–165 hp (112–123 kW) 230–235 ft·lbf (312–319 N·m) Z
1990–1993 2.5 L Iron Duke I4, TBI 105 hp (78 kW) 135 ft·lbf (183 N·m) A
1992–1993 4.3 L Vortec two HP versions V6, CPI 170 or 178 hp (???–??? kW) 2?? or 2?? ft·lbf (3??–3?? N·m) W

My 2.8 v6 with a stick seems to be just about as fast as my 03 cav with an auto. Pretty sure the 4.3 vortec would kick your ass

the 4.3 is a circumsized 350. with little mods they go in, i have seen the swap done for under 500 (already had a motor)
my dad has a 85 blazer with a carb'd 350 in it. has a plow too, but not very useful

i had a '90 s10 that i put a 305 in. its a simple swap, especially if its carbed and 2wd. it could be done easily in a weekend. mine was a 4wd so i had to modify the oil pan and i put on a 3 inch body lift. how are you so positive that it hasnt been modded? even if this kid isnt mechanically inclined, maybe the previous owner did it.

IDK about those years because I had an 87 S-10 with a 5spd 2.5L

it not really a big deal to drop a 350 into a s-10, they make kits for it. its done WAY more than anyone would think.

the 2.5 started earlier..those arent all models and years..but they never ever ever came with a v8...the 4.3 is damn powerful tho for a little truck..the 350 swap is super easy as said..

they never came with a v8.....simple swap though our drag s-10 has a 383 in it, fun times. Why dont you just ask the kid to pop the hood and take alook?

No, they do not come with V8's. 4.3L V6 is the biggest, it what i had in my last truck(92 s10 cadi deville tails, cowl hood, iroc wheels, oh i could go on, love it, anyways../) if theres a v8 its obviously a swap, and a 4.3 can beat a v8 if its not set up properly. Some ppl screw it up so bad its counter productive. My bud had a 2.8 v6 in his and we raced and my 4.3 won. a year later he swapped to a 350 and i won again. Weird lol.

i cant believe noone mentioned a thing about the racing part.. really guys? he would smoke you first of all, but take it to a track.. V8 swaps in S10's are pretty much common place in the world of truck customizing, give me 1000 bucks and a few days and its that easy ha

hop on in i've got a J

I think you should buy a junker s-10,swap in the 4.3L turbo v-6 from the Syclone/Typhoone and then race him

the easiest swap for the box style s10 is the 4.3tbi to 5.7 tbi conversion. all you need is motormounts, radiator, electric fans, headers, Fuel injectors, and the computer from the vehical you took the 5.7 from. The 4.3tbi uses the same harness, throttle body, and all front accessories. THE easiest swap in the world. and if done right looks completly factory. I had all the parts to do this on my 91 S10 that i just sold. I gathered the parts from s10 forums for under 500 bucks. and found a motor for 250 with computer.

and NO, no S10 ever came with a v8 stock. came with the 4cyl and the 2.8 v6 up until 80-something. then swtiched over to the 4.3 throttle body until mid year of 93 to a vortec mpi.

I believe a good site for the mounts would be jaguarsthatrun.com? Something like that.

I didn't know a S10s were Jbodies. hm weird.

there's this brand new website nobody has ever heard of that just came out, its great for finding stuff. The address is www.google.com I think its one of those search engine things... You put in a few words that pertain to what you're looking for, hit enter, and it finds relevant matches in less than a second.

1. I went to google.com
2. In the little bar I put "S10 V8 Swap"
3. I hit the enter key.
4. Go down the list and check for relevant websites.
5. Sometimes you can find other useful information by changing the search words. I tried "S10 V8 mounts" and got some good sites too.

But, I refuse to do it for you. You signed up for this website today... a cavalier/sunfire website to ask about S10s... how that makes sense is beyond me. there's more than a fair share of S10 websites out there.. you'd think they'd be a better place to look.

I mean, would you go to a hair salon to buy groceries? Would you go to a music store to buy a gun? Would you go to the bank to fill up your gas tank?
Catch my drift?

Why would you waste time bringing back a thread from '07?
