raven wrote:lmao...how did I know this was going to happen in this post. Tell you guys what, don't worry about it, I take myself out of the running. I really could care less about being on this list so don't worry about it. I will bow out and you guys can fight over who will be on this list. IMO if it is a j-body then it counts, doesn't matter what is under the hood. If it is an N body then go over to an N-body site and get on their list, you don't see me on any grand prix lists and I wouldn't expect to. Maybe you guys should just keep it to completely stock 2.2's, 2.4's and eco's just to keep it fair, I mean hell modding an engine is going to give you an advantage.
Spyhunter: Yes you made more torque than me, for now. My engine is good for a lot more, we were only babying it at 421wtq.
Adam: I was kind of surprised to read what you wrote, you never mentioned anything like this previous to me posting up numbers so whats the big deal now? Maybe yours shouldn't be counted because you have the full backing of a company who specializes in turbo creations. Regardless this is a pretty stupid thing to argue over, if you want the #1 spot that bad it's yours. Enjoy.
I'm am the top dog in the N-body websites, but it's too easy to be on top when all the N-body guys save for a miniscule couple are all intake header exhaust people.

The way I see it is, you've got the 1/4 mile list for the people who need disclaimers. I'm so tired of hearing things like "fastest supercharged 2.4 on street tires and stock exhaust" or whatever other crap people can come up with to make their car seem more impressive than it is. If we're going to brag about hp, than you know what, it should be whoever has the most HP in a J and let that be that, regardless of mods or engine type. If someone like Raven does the work to put a 3800 into a car it doesn't belong in, and then goes the extra mile to turbo the ever-loving crap out of it, than why does he have to suddenly be in a separate category? How is it unfair to include him? He's shown that anyone with the drive to duplicate his setup can, just because most choose not to shouldn't exclude him from the list. What next? Are we going to break it down to people with stock bottom end vs. built bottom end? Stock head vs. worked head? Man up people! This should be a no-holds-barred, whoever makes the most power makes the most power, regardless of engine type or mod level. If you're pissed that that keeps you off the list, then work harder to make your car faster.
As for the Spyhunter debate, well hell, the beetle makes 221 so i guess I'd be on that list too at the moment, should I count? If its not a J it shouldn't be on the list. You deserve just as much respect as anyone else making that level of power, and I don't take that away from you, but this is a J-body specific forum, and if you want it based on having a 2.4, go to the quad4forum and start a list there.

What about categories like, ld9, ln2, l61, swap and sub categories like n/a, or boosted. Then a top 10 overall? This way who ever makes the most power in a j, no matter what kind of engine, 3400, 3800, tdc, ls7 what ever has the over all but people who arn't building boosted monsters or working with a limited motor, like the ln2 can still be recognized and people can look up what ever kind of build their doing.

I like Paul's list...Far less convoluted than just throwing the top 25 on one list (which when all is said and done will just end up being all boosted motors anyways).

Spyhunter,
Nice! Good to see people are showing what the LD9 is capable of and showing to world the potential of the engine. Sad that GM never advertised the Quad family's potential in the 90's like what GM is doing today with Ecotec... different era. But you surely did.

Adam Hahn wrote:I don't want to create problems cause that's not why I'm here, but does the 3800 V6 even come in a J-Body? I think that if there is a debate over whether or not spyhunter can be on the list and he uses a J-body motor in another car, then how can Raven's 3800 V6 cavy be considered? Couldn't someone just drop an LS2 in a J-Body and take reign over this list? But I do like the uniqueness of Raven's car, and as we can see it is done very well. Nice Numbers Raven.
I'm going to quote myself because I do not have a problem with who is number one or who is on the list. All I mentioned was that, IN MY OPINION, if Spyhunter's car wasn't allowed (who puts down more HP than my car), than Raven's shouldn't be and in either case, I still wouldn't be number one. To further my point of not discluding you Raven, I said, "But I do like the uniqueness of Raven's car, and as we can see it is done very well. Nice Numbers Raven."

The reason I never mentioned anything before is because it didn't matter to me how much you put down, even if it was an unbelievably high number. I mentioned something because I just thought that because its an HP thread, Spyhunter should be in if you were in, that's it.

It caught me a little off guard so no hard feelings man. We are all doing this for ourselves (well I hope at least) and it's great to see people making good power and pushing the limits further. I am hopeing to get back to the Dyno next Wednesday as long as my new MAF scaler comes in in time. Once that is hear I can scale the MAF table and add the needed fuel for more boost and timing.
