New personal best for my stock LD9 with boost.
Sunday, September 25, 2011 11:42 AM
Went to Lapeer Dragway yesterday for some test and tune action. VERY pleased with my 245/50/16 Nitto 555R drag radials. They are very consistent! Could not break into the 1.9 60' range at this event however. No worries. I am happy with multiple 12.9s@111mph and a new personal best of 12.7@112mph. Other cars at the event were a 2001 Vortech s/c and geared 4.6L Mustang (his best time was 12.6@110), A Lotus Elise with roots style s/c running 11psi (12.2@117), A 2.0 swapped/STi trans Subaru 2.5rs (12.2@107 with a 1.7 60' and no 2 step), a new 5.0 Mustang with cat back (12.9@112) and a BMW 135i (13.2@112). He is still learning the BMW. That car has MUCH more in it.

Mod list about my car is updated in my registry. I am very pleased with these times for the little I have done to this engine.

Pardon the iPhone 4 pictures.

hells yes. congrats man... it sure is something to be able to say you've ran a 12.7 on a stock long block with only cams as an inside mod. that is beyond incredible. ESPECIALLY for her being ten years old, now!

you know im a fan. always have been. always. will. be.

Nice! Especially for stock internals. Mind if I ask what pressures you were running the DR's at? Might try dropping 'em a bit and burning out on them a bit harder. DR's may not be slicks but they do tend to like to get some heat in them to stick properly.

I ran about 25 PSI. I intended to drop it even lower but for some reason it slipped my mind.

15-20psi next time!

Yeah, definitely too high for drag radials. 15psi's probably a better bet.

id even say 10-15.... hell I run 8-9 in mine. Camron runs 7.5-8 when he uses them. They will squat a ton but then they give some too.

Aired drag radials down to 15psi. They still aren't helping me get any 1.9 60's like my old BFG drag radials could. Made 9 passes with the boost set at 11psi. No wild spiking today for some reason. Managed a pair of 12.6 @ 111s today! Temperature was around 58 degrees today and very little sunshine to warm the track.

Tons of spinning. They won't let us fwd use the water box and I can't get the tires warm enough.

thats dumb especially since you are on a radial that needs heat. If you get back, try even lower psi and it might grab a little better. thats dumb though.

ok wtf why wont the track let you FWD guys drive though the water box? thats just dumb. id be going up to the tower and letting them have an ear full over that BS.

anyways, nice new records for ya, jay. thoroughly impressed as usual.

1st gear burnouts. Last time I attempted a 2nd gear burnout I killed a clutch.

This track is beyond hillbilly. My friend was running full slicks on his EF hatch and they yelled at him for using the box. Sayin straight up that they don't prep it for FWD cars.

They don't even have score boards at the end of the track and the right lane causes my buddy's 135i traction control to come on at the 1000' mark due to a dip in the lane...

Google "lapeer dragway" and enjoy. We use it simply because it's local, inexpensive, and you can hot lap all day with short lines.

I use to start in 1 gear, but shift to 2 as soon as the RPM's got to redline (sometimes let it bounce off the limiter a time or 2 first). Second gear was the only way I could get the tires hot enough.
