Wiring a shift light Please help
Tuesday, March 01, 2005 8:07 PM
I tried this in the audio and electronics and the interior forum... both didnt come up with any answers.... so ill try the racing forum since people who drag probably might have a tach and or a shift light. Heres the light, its the 5th one down

Click for light

what do you guys think????? Where is the wire i tap into to run the green wire or the wire that gets the rpm singnal. It says to tap it into the tach terminal of an electronic ignition or the - terminal of the coil. Anyways, im lost.... i tried taping it into a white wire on the ignition coil pack thinking i was right but it didnt work. The power and ground are already hooked up. Just one stinking wire is baffling me and my chiltons manual!

thanks....

on my eco it's a pink wire.....

either way, you have two coil packs and when you tap one you'll only get half of your total rpms.... just so you know

you should invest in a tach adaptor/tach driver... which run like 60 bucks (i can get you a link if you wish)

Well I have hooked one up on my 2.4 and it is a pink wire going into the IDI cover. Not sure for the 2.2, but should be just one wire.

well if its an acurate half the shift light is adjustable up to 12000 rpm so i can just double what i want to set it at i guess. Either way i just want to see it blink for once. Where do i look for either the coil like meltdown said or for the pink wire like john said? im really not sure where the electrical @!#$ is, im not even sure where my ecu is. So any extra help would be appreciated

I think i put it in an attachment, ive never done it before.... But its a pic of where i thought i should splice it in. Which is the white wire on the clip above the coil packs. Its the red wire coming in that i spliced into it.
