Tire Pressure
Thursday, May 27, 2010 7:28 AM
I'm going to the track tommoro and am wondering what tire pressure everyone is running up front and in the rear?

Im concerned about my launch and traction. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm thinking about reving up to about 2 or 3 thousand rpms and feathering it out lightly from there...?

Thanks Guys

you'll want to play with the fronts, start out at a normal pressure and see how it reacts. then steadily go down from there.

as for the rears, id say if 50 psi is good for the tire rating go for it. you want them stiff so when the car launches the rear doesnt 'squat' as much. it aids in weight transfer. because in a FWD car one of the worst things for traction is to have the rear go down and the front come up.

Anything worth doing is worth over doing.

I run 14psi in my BFG's at the track and I just leave the rears normal (I think I have them around 32psi). But play around with the pressures until you get your best times.
