She's gone

R.I.P. 1996 - 2005

Monday night at about 3am I was sleeping and my wife was getting ready for bed, she works evenings. She heard my Cutlass starting so she ran to the window in time to see it drive by. She yelled that the Cutlass just got stolen and she called 911. I went into the computer room and turned on the scanner to hear what was happening. The police saw the car driving down the highway near my house. The guy in MY car decided to run from the police. I heard the cops say that they were going down the road at close to 90mph. The thief took an exit, drove through a parking lot of a factory, crashed through a chain link fence and into a three foot deep ditch. The front bumper hit the side of the of the ditch, dug in to the ground and threw dirt across the road. The front wheels hopped up onto the road but the back wheels where in the ditch. So the fools, the cops said there were three punks in the car, bailed out and took off into the night. The cops didn't find them but they left some screwdrivers and a hat in the car, which are being checked for fingerprints. I had the Club on the steering wheel but the guy broke the steering wheel to get it off. They punched the column to start the car. The cop told me that he say the car pull up to a red light near him and another cop, say them sitting there looking for my car, and took off up the road. I bet the had heart failure seeing two cop cars about two minutes after stealing a car. I hope they had to go buy new underoos after that! I saw the car today, it's pretty bad. The front bumper is shoved up under the car, the back bumper is off the car, the right drivers quarter panel is bent, the hood is bent, the bottom third of the steering wheel is all that's left, the column is broken and the whole car is scratched up from driving through a fence. All I hope is that the steering wheel felt good smashing into that guys chest when he hit the ditch, maybe broke a few ribs. I hope they find the punks that stole it, I want to see what she did to them to teach them a lesson.

Although I'd love to rebuild it, that would cost way more then I could ever spend. I guess I just have to bite the bullet and let it go. It's tough because that was the first car that I bought for myself and it was my baby. Ironacally enough, I bought it from a junk yard, it got read-ended and for whatever reason the guy that owned it didn't what it. I bought the car, a bumper and the drivers-side T-top (it was broken). I replaced them and the car was as good as new.

Sorry for your loss. Clubs are useless, found that out from my ex con brother in law(in jail numerous times for GTA). Me and my wife use Brake locks on our cars now. Too bad you can't get a little payback on those bastards without going to jail or getting sued.

The thought of them smashing their chest into what was left of the steering wheel when they hit the ditch is good for me.

Did the insurance total it, or what?

yep, they totaled it. They have the title and everything, it's not my car anymore. i would have loved to keep it and fix it up but when I thought about everything it needed, steering wheel, front quarter panel, front and rear bumper, new front axle, possibility of a bent frame and a new paint job I realized that it would cost way more then I could afford to spend, without moving into a van down by the river. So I did the smart thing that I'll regret in a few years.
