Yeah... If there was a fatality, I believe most states require the vehicle be destroyed.

There is no radio who would buy a car without any tunes? Seriously who would buy that? Even if it was a rare car it is too far gone to repair from the looks of it I doubt there are any body panels that are intact and I imagine the engine and tranny are prolly damaged too.

Really? In this case I can understand but if somebody dies in a minor crash why destroy the car? People die in houses they don't destroy them.

who knows, maybe its situational? my buddy used to drive around a buick that his grandfather crashed, killing his grandmother. of course it was all fixed, but he always used to tell that to people sitting in the passengers seat

Actually cars that are completely !@#$ up are very common at auto auctions, I've seen cars like that at auto auctions all the time when I used to haul cars. There ususally not quite that bad though. And for some reason there always parked in back, so you have to dirve the damn truck into the crammed lot to haul it out. (I always transported new cars thank god)

If it is in Salem then it was probably a train that smashed it . Lately the idiots in Salem have become rather brave at running the crossings when the trains are coming through . I don't remember how many vehicles got creamed in a two week time in Salem .

I found out more on this car .

Turns out the car is what remains of a rather succesful suicide attempt . The person driving the car hit a tree doing around 75 MPH while heading to Staunton River High School . The driver worked as a teacher and had talked to one of her friends and told them on the cell phone she was going to drive the car off the road and kill herself . That friend in turn called another friend that worked as a 911 dispatch who then contacted the Bedford county 911 dispatch . They told them what they had heard and gave a description of the car . The Bedford county dispatch asked what road would she have been on and said that they were dealing with a car that had went off of the road and hit a tree , and split in half .

How did I find out I heard the tapes from the dispatchers talking . Even seen the car at the crash scene . But what they have in the write up is'nt exactly true because people just came out this week and said she was trying to commit suicide .

Here the write up :

Staunton River teacher dies in car crash

She had been a teacher at the school since December 2003, and had just returned from maternity leave.

The Roanoke Times

One of the last things that Minty Rees Brandley did said a lot about the kind of person she was.

Early Tuesday morning, long before the Staunton River High School teacher really needed to be at school, she arrived to leave muffins and balloons on another teacher's desk for her birthday, said Bedford County Public Schools Superintendent Jim Blevins.

Then, for an unknown reason, Brandley, 29, rushed back down Joppa Mill Road toward Bedford, losing control of her car and striking a tree. She died at the scene, leaving behind a family that included a 4-month-old baby.

"This was a good teacher and this was a woman who was just in the beginning stages of being a mother, so it has been very tough to swallow," said school system spokesman Ryan Edwards.

Staunton River High School Principal Cherie Whitehurst described Brandley, a special education teacher, as warm, caring and always willing to do something extra for other people.

Virginia State Police Trooper J.A. Overstreet said the crash happened at 6:50 a.m. about one-tenth of a mile west of Scenic View Road. Brandley's vehicle was heading east on Joppa Mill Road when it ran off the left shoulder and struck a tree.

Overstreet estimated that Brandley was traveling about 75 mph in a 55-mph zone when she struck the tree. The engine compartment of her car separated from the passenger compartment, which overturned, he said.

Although Brandley was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Overstreet said he doubted that she would have lived if she had been wearing one.

"I would say that this was probably the worst accident I've ever seen," the trooper said. "This was not a survivable crash."

Late Tuesday morning, school officials called the faculty of Staunton River together to break the news of Brandley's death. She had been a teacher at the school since December 2003, and had just returned from maternity leave, Blevins said.

"There were a lot of tears," Whitehurst said.

After the teachers had been told, staff and counselors told Brandley's students about the crash. Whitehurst said the school notified as many of those students' parents as possible. Also, a letter was sent home to all parents Tuesday.

"We ask that you keep her family in your thoughts and prayers," it read.

The school system mobilized its regional crisis team Tuesday, which means that school psychologists were sent to Staunton River to counsel grieving students and staff. They were available in the library all day to talk to the grief-stricken, officials said.

Whitehurst said students started making a message board for Brandley's family Tuesday as a way to both express their sympathy and do something cathartic for themselves.

No plans for a memorial service had been made as of Tuesday afternoon because school system employees still were reeling from the news, Edwards said. Counselors will be on hand for students and faculty at the high school as long as necessary this week.

"We are dealing with it to the best of our ability," Edwards said, "but this is certainly a very sad day for our school division."

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Now you know what happened to that car !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
