I bet you werent half asleep that

Sorry man, I don't mean to laugh but thats just too unreal.
I do feel bad for ya though, the hood/fiberglass prabably cost the most anyway right?

by the way, hood latches/locks look cool, where do you get them.

Everyone I know with hood pins just undoes them, then releases the hood latch...sux for you, though!

You didn't notice a rattle, or the hood moving with the wind...? How fast were you going when you realized the hood was moving up and down with the wind?? LOL

I have done something close to it...
I had a 79 Camaro with T-tops, needless to say the passenger T-top wasn't latched, first left turn and it flew off and slid down 2 and a half blocks.
It was just scratched up horribly, but not broken.

And I am with everyone else, why did you remove your stock safety latch?

I thought you only needed hood pins a C/F hood. I thought fiberglass would just use the stock latch?

It's a good idea to use pins on a glass hood also.

I've seen glass hoods blow out around the orig latch at higher speeds.

I've got a Vis Evo hood (CF) and I use my stock latch...havent had problems yet but the hood doesnt fit all the well so i'll have to get pins I guess, though I really dont want em! But yea, you can use the latch with a CF hood. Why didnt you have it latched!?

any kind of lighter hood, i use pins. just to insure my investment. it latches w/ the stock latch, then i pin it down to be safe

i was only going 25 mph when it happend. and it wasnt bouncing because it was wedged with the hood pin mount. the first time it moved was when it did the wonderful piece you see above. i took out the stock latches and put in hood pins so the hood would line up better with the fenders. I also got the pins because with just the stock latch, when i passed a trucker on a two lane highway it seemed like the hood was going to fly up or crack.

The stock latch is fine if you have a GOOD QUALITY hood. I have a Race-Tech hood, and the stock latch as well as the hinge bolts all have metal inserts inside the hood instead of just threading into the fiberglass.

I've seen several low quality cheap fiberglass hoods that do not have metal inserts. These ones I would worry about. I've had my hood on for three years and drive on the freeway every single day, and i've never had a problem.

cheap hood has nothin' to do w/ it. all it takes is for wind to get up under the hood.

I had a fiberglass ram air hood that wieghed less than 15 pounds for 2 years and never needed pins. Stock latch works just fine.

i remember my hood used to do that back when my car had the stock hood on....hood pins on my CF hood definately took care of that

What exactly happens? Does the sticker come out of the hood? Does the actual latch give?

Should read stricker, not sticker.
