Nevermind people's opinions, Toyota themselves just gave you the finger.

And I have to agree with Bill, any thread Quick puts his writing in turns south... good going quick... this was a respectful and calm thread till you showed up.... lmfao.

I have no dilusions of grandeur, you have an obsession problem.

And GT, this thread started out as a bitch fest, as Bill obviously started it as another point in his case against foreign cars, and he was called on it. The pages you didn't read included other bickering about people being stupid and not being able to deal with a car having a throttle problem, with some misinformation strewn throughout. My simple post didn't ruin anything. Also, don't get a bug up your ass about me because I made a few jabs at you in AG that were purely in fun.

Wow, did you really just say that? NEVER EVER SHUT A CAR OFF WHILE DRIVING! Lose your brakes, lose your power steering, have your steering lock if you pull the key out (because you are panicking at this point after all). You turn a potentially dangerous situation into a guaranteed accident. In the land of bad ideas, you just won today's grand prize with that gem.

And an update on my mom's car... apparently it heard all our bitching so it decided to do the exact opposite. Now instead of surging, it won't go into gear at all. Yep, her

ill say it , SHUT THE DAM CAR OFF , better to crash at a slower speed than doing triple digits

and as i mentioned before the steering isnt gonna lock as you usually can not get the key out , with out putting it into park or pushing the button on the tumbler , or pushing it in , and if you cant stop a car with out power assist , or turn with out power steering then you really shouldnt be driving

ive driven alot of cars with the ps not working and power brakes not working , and have done so on a daily basis its not hard to do , even for a 60lb weakling

"this is where getting the proper training while in drivers ed/training would play into the whole thing

It hardly matters what we think...little old ladies (as well as soccer moms and non-technical men, who taken together make up the bulk of Toyota's customer base) are still going to plow into things and/or be completely distrustful of their cars, even from small unintended acceleration incidents. Anyone who's ever felt the panic and terror of a stuck throttle (I have!) will know what I mean. It only takes a couple seconds of lost time due to disorientation to cause a severe accident. Macho ego-tripping aside, that's what's wrong, and why Toyota finds its ass in such a sling.
