I like the regular cab and extended cab,

but the crewcab looks like giant 4-seater side-by-side

looks gay. Hopefully they wont drop support for the good looking colorado. You know they did some weird @!#$ with those trucks when the first came out. My dad has a single cab Z71 from 05. Yeah figure that one out, you cant get one like that that. And in 05 the Z71 was a dealer option and the instructions were to order a silverado z71 kit and install. Yeah that baby had a stiff ride, it hit bumps almost as hard as the cav on coilovers, I love it. Whats even nicer was last year when they came out with the 5.3 version, which means that now theres mounts from GM taht you can buy to shove any LSx engine into the truck.

i personally like the export trucks. after 2 deployments those toyotas and nissans have struck a cord with me. call me crazy but that and diesel makes me happy.

Should've left it alone and went ahead and developed the diesel motor for it...

Chevrolet today revealed the Colorado Show Truck in advance of the Bangkok International Auto Show, where it is making its global public debut. The concept previews the next-generation Colorado midsize pickup truck, which will build on Chevrolet’s strong truck DNA and award-winning heritage. The Colorado goes on sale in Thailand later this year.

“Thailand is the world’s-largest market for midsize pickups, so this was the perfect location in which to unveil our new Colorado,” said Susan Docherty, vice president, GMIO Sales, Marketing and Aftersales. “Trucks have been part of Chevrolet’s core for nearly all of its 100-year history. The Colorado reinforces that heritage with expressive design, refinement and uncompromising capability.”

The show truck features an extended-cab body atop a high-stance AWD chassis and rides on large, 20-inch wheels and off-road tires. Power comes from an efficient 2.8L turbo-diesel engine, which produces a broad torque band for excellent cargo and towing capability.

“Although this is a show vehicle, the basic proportions and form convey the vision for the next-generation Colorado that we will bring to market,” said Brad Merkel, GM's global vehicle line executive. “It reflects a stylized version of the new truck, one that takes into account rugged dependable truck capabilities for commercial use as well as sophisticated refinement for personal-use needs.¡±

While the new Colorado was developed within GM’s global product development organization, engineers took careful steps to ensure it would meet local market needs. Roberto Rempel, GM's global vehicle chief engineer, lived in Thailand for several months during the truck’s development, immersing himself in the market and observing how the Thai people use their trucks and the road conditions they experience.

“Pickups are instrumental in the vibrant Thai economy and owners take great pride in their trucks, which are used for both work and personal driving,” he said. “These customers ask a lot of their trucks, so the powertrains and chassis must be very robust to earn their trust ¨C and that’s exactly what we’ve delivered.”

Design details

The Colorado show truck’s purposeful design conveys strength through bodywork that appears tightly wrapped over the chassis and a wide, confident stance. In the front, Chevrolet’s internationally recognized gold bowtie and dual-port grille are framed by large headlamps that flow into the front fenders, and an extractor vent on the hood.

“Around the globe, pickup trucks are associated with strength, capability and function ¨C and that’s exactly what the Colorado show truck embodies,¡± said Ed Welburn, GM vice president of Global Design. "Its broad-shouldered proportions are derived from nearly a century of Chevrolet truck heritage."

Pepperdust Metallic exterior paint is accented with polished aluminum details in the fascias, as well as integrated side steps and black-masked projector-style headlamps with LED lighting elements. At the rear is a full-width LED-lit taillamp, which creates a striking appearance when illuminated.

Additional exterior details include:
-A streamlined "cab collar" design with a body-color hard tonneau cover on the bed
-Gray accents on the side, front and rear lower moldings
-20-inch aluminum wheels featuring a “liquid metal” finish, with Stone Gray color wheel ports
-Cooper 285/50R20 ZEON LTZ tires
-Outside mirrors with LED turn-signal indicators.

Inside, there’s another signature Chevrolet cue: a dual-cockpit instrument panel design. It flows into the doors, with continuous lines that create a floating, wraparound effect, amplifying the Colorado’s feeling of spaciousness. Ice-blue lighting and high-quality, ¡°double-faced¡± leather-trimmed seats add sophistication and refinement.

“The interior is designed to deliver a premium and inviting environment, with a greater feeling of spaciousness than is typically found in midsize trucks,” said Welburn. “There’s also great attention to detail in the execution of the features you see and feel.”

A brace of motorcycle-inspired, three-dimensional gauges stand out on the instrument panel, projecting a sporty appearance.

Contrasting trim used with the light-colored leather seating, dark wood trim accented with chrome and low-gloss and soft-touch materials are used throughout for a premium feel. A number of storage compartments are located throughout the interior, including a covered center bin for concealment of valuable items, and a large, dual glovebox.

Additional features include a dual-zone, digital climate control system and the latest in “infotainment” technology. The show truck highlights an ergonomically positioned 7-inch LCD display in the center stack, for easy viewing and intuitive control of Web access, navigation, music and hands-free phone features.

Eww it looks like a honda ridgeline with a cruze front end. I have the worst feeling in the world that this thing is unitbody. And if it was unitbody that would kill everything about it that made it better than the Ranger, which would be the fully boxed frame.

There might be be good news if you're a fan of this truck. The replacement for the current Chevrolet Colorado pickup is coming to the United States–maybe: GM has agreed to produce a mid-size pickup truck at its Wentzville, Missouri plant as part of its new agreement with the United Auto Workers. GM has yet to confirm as much, but this may be a good sign that the all-new Colorado may beheading to our market.

A sizeable portion of the contract between GM and the UAW, which was made public on Tuesday, calls for GM to invest $2.5 billion in its domestic plants to boost American production. One of those investments surrounds GM’s Wentzville, Missouri plant, which presently builds the company’s full-size G vans (i.e. Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana). The agreement, however, calls for the plant to build a new midsize pickup.
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if that truck turns out to be the all-new, second-generation Colorado. Although GM is wrapping up development of the truck for foreign markets, the automaker has shied away from explicitly stating the truck will be sold in North America. That said, a Chevy spokesperson previously indicated if the company decides to bring a midsize truck to our shores, it would be the new Colorado.

When it goes on sale in Thailand, the Colorado will be available with an extended or crew cab, and feature either a 2.5-liter or 2.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine. The current U.S.-market Colorado/GMC Canyon is available with I-4, I-5, and V-8 engine choices, but the truck itself, which dates back to 2004, is more than showing its age at this point.
The introduction of the new Colorado to the American market might not be such a bad idea: since the introduction of the last Chevrolet Colorado/GMC Canyon, competition in the form of Ford’s Ranger and Dodge’s Dakota have been discontinued. A new Colorado would only spar against Nissan’s Frontier and Toyota’s Tacoma.

The all-new Chevrolet Colorado, designed and engineered to be General Motors' toughest, highest-performing and most-refined midsize pickup truck ever, made its global debut today in Thailand.

The Colorado range is the product of a five-year, $2 billion vehicle program developed across five continents for customers in more than 60 markets around the world.

The new-generation Colorado offers more technology and delivers more features and value than ever.. Interiors, exteriors and major mechanical features are all new, representing the most-extensive clean-sheet midsize truck program in Chevrolet's 100-year history.


Chevrolet will offer Thai customers 26 combinations of Colorado models, powertrains, cabins, and ride heights when the range goes on sale this month. They include single-, extended- and crew-cab bodies in high- and low-stance configurations, wide- and narrow-body options, as well as two- and four-wheel-drive configurations.

The range features a choice of two all-new Duramax turbo-diesel engines that provide a leading combination of performance and fuel economy across three specification levels.


GM Thailand President Martin Apfel said the entry of the new Colorado into Thailand's booming pickup truck market builds on Chevrolet's heritage of building vehicles that exceed the needs and desires of its customers.

Thailand is excited to be the first market in the world to introduce the all-new Colorado, which represents GM's most significant play in the midsize pickup truck market ever, Apfel said. This is a vehicle built tough for the people of Thailand, by the people of Thailand. It is a truck of which Thailand can be proud.

Apfel added, The new Colorado represents our largest-ever engineering and manufacturing program and demonstrates the outstanding skills and capability that exist in this country. Our manufacturing operations have the ability to meet the needs of the local and global marketplace now and well into the future.

Based on GM's global body-on-frame, rear-drive midsize truck architecture, the new Colorado is designed, engineered and executed to deliver best-in-class appearance, performance, versatility and refinement.

It also has been developed to meet the highest-possible safety standards wherever it is sold. Included in the Colorado range are features such as electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system featuring electronic brake force distribution, traction control, hydraulic brake assist, cornering brake control and driver and occupant front air bags.

According to Brad Merkel, GM's Global Vehicle Line executive for Midsize Trucks, the Colorado offers the strength, design and performance needed to compete with the world's best truck nameplates.

Our objective from the beginning of the program was ¡®haul anything, go anywhere and that's exactly what the new Colorado delivers, Merkel said. We have engineered it to meet the needs and desires of commercial and personal buyers alike. It can be a workhorse, a family hauler, a lifestyle vehicle, or a truck that plays to the higher-end premium buyer.

That versatility is a big win for our customers. Regardless of configuration, they're getting the features of a common frame and body structure, high-performing powertrains and outstanding refinement. There are no sacrifices in fundamental hardware or aesthetics, from a very basic two-door work truck all the way up to a premium crew cab.

The development of the all-new Colorado was led by a highly skilled team of GM engineers in Brazil who used their expertise to tailor the vehicle for a number of global markets, including those in Southeast Asia.

Team members lived in Thailand during the Colorado's development, immersing themselves in the highly competitive truck market and observing how Thais use their vehicles and the driving conditions they experience. That expertise led to the development of new Colorado models covering three specification levels: the entry-level LS, mid-range LT and range-topping LTZ.

The new lineup was designed to deliver ride and handling characteristics unexpected of a midsize pickup thanks to two levels of chassis and suspension tuning. As a result, it is equally adept both at hauling and towing and at serving as a day-to-day city commuter.


The range also features an all-new global family of GM-developed turbo-diesel four-cylinder engines designed to deliver a leading combination of performance and fuel efficiency. The two Duramax diesels, built at GM Thailand's newly opened $200 million engine plant, are available in 2.8-liter and 2.5-liter displacements.

The 2.8-liter turbo-diesel features a variable-geometry turbocharger for optimal power and efficiency across the rpm band and a balance shaft for greater smoothness, while both engines feature components designed to last for 240,000 kilometers.

The 2.8-liter engine is rated at 180 horsepower (132 kW) and 346 lb.-ft. of torque (470 Nm) with an available six-speed automatic transmission (324 lb.-ft. / 440 Nm with a five-speed manual). The 2.5-liter engine is rated at 150 horsepower (110 kW) and 258 lb.-ft. of torque (350 Nm).

The Colorado's presence was created by the GM South America Design Center

in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and takes many cues from the three Colorado concept vehicles revealed at global auto shows in Thailand, Argentina, Australia and Germany throughout the year.


Design highlights include a power dome in the hood which, combined with a raised cowl, is intended to give the Colorado a strong, purposeful appearance. Higher-mounted dual projector headlamps are positioned beneath the power dome, intended to emphasize visual strength in the face of the vehicle.


Also prominent is the dual-port grille ¨C an unmistakable Chevrolet cue ¨C that carries a three-dimensional grille mesh. Chrome appointments in the grille surround, door handles, tailgate handle, mirror caps, and headlamps and fog lamps on high-level models are intended to provide a premium appearance.

Meanwhile, in a first for a Chevrolet pickup truck, the Colorado offers LED-illuminated tail lamps on high-level models.


That goal of premium appearance is also reflected by detailed sheet metal work throughout the exterior, including the hood and door panels, which blend layers of natural light for an uncluttered, natural surface appearance.


With a flowing instrument panel, integrated center stack and trademark Chevrolet dual cockpit design, the interior of the all-new Colorado combines car-like characteristics with the boldness expected of a pickup.

With segment-leading front- and second-row shoulder room, headroom and seat height, the Colorado is designed to provide outstanding levels of interior comfort for drivers and passengers alike.


Designers have also carried the premium finish expressed in the Colorado's exterior into the interior with the use of chrome appointments around the shifter and shifter head; steering wheel bezels; heating and air conditioning controls; door pulls; door applique's; and surrounding the radio head.


The use of LED backlighting in the instrument cluster and HVAC controls in Chevrolet's trademark Ice Blue illumination is designed to provide a high-definition appearance.

The Colorado also includes several storage locations designed to be best in class. The regular cab has 16 storage locations, while the extended cab has 19 and the crew cab has 30.


Seats feature flat-woven cloth fabric or optional leather on high-end models with matching instrument panel inserts. They carry sculpted edges and have dual-density foam construction. A front vinyl bench seat is available on base models.


Convenience features like auxiliary power, auxiliary plugs and USB connectivity are standard across the range.
