Hung out with my friend the other day, we decided to take a few pics of the cars before work and grab some lunch, there was a fair going down at the beach, so those pictures were out, the next beach had some fire fighters benefit picnic/music etc so that was out, we found this private spot i know of and snapped some pics with the cellphones as it was spur of the moment and i didnt bring my camera. anyway here are a few of the pictures...

His Car
96 or 97 ( forgot ) 325i with Fully built bottom end/fully built head/beefed up transmission Dinan Stage 1 supercharged M3 motor swapped in. Previous owner did the work and provided him with receipts for EVERYTHING. Car moves and is fun to ride in.

My Car
2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged
2.7 pulley
Water/meth
Full bolt ons
Tuned

Down the highway they are damn near neck and neck although i SLOWLY walk away from him. Not by much, its damn close!

Any pictures with the doors open is his idea not mine lol

Cars look good, both of them. The e36 REALLY needs the M front bumper, it just looks off without it.

Man those tow hooks stick out like a sore thumb. In a really really bad way. Otherwise your car looks pretty darn clean and I'm not a big E36 fan, but I can live with it since it's been worked under the hood.

yeah the pedals kinda kill it for me too. so does the red silicone couplers. other than that i think its clean for its age.

i dont know if any of the pictures show the peeling clear coat on the roof/trunk. its almost non existant.

I like both cars for the most part.

If he's going to rock that sticker though he needs to be a lot lower.

I'm amused that you don't like his red silicone hose couplers but think that your red tow hooks look cool.

Or at least put useful tow straps on the car.

lol silly jbo users. tow hooks are useful, do the research. Here Ill help. Engineered by John Powell at Powellraceshop dot com.

theyre staying on the car due to an incident i had a few weeks back and i dont carry the tools to take the hooks on and off for when needed hence why they stay on.

if you knew what he makes for the cobalt world youd be impressed. function over form.

undercar rails with jack points
spherical control arm bushings - installed
removeable harness bar - installed
removeable tow hooks - installed
derlin bushings
hub swabs from 4-5x114 or 4-5x110 or 5x110-5x114
floating caliper brake sets
cooling ducts for oem lips, or time attack lips
had a major part in the time attack cobalt
worked with gm in creating option b setup and dual pass endplate

i know and understand people here are not going to be up to date with parts of cars on another platform, but when its explained why mine stay on the car yet people still try calling it out saying theyre not functional or compare them to honda ebay hooks then it just becomes ignorance.

Why, when only slightly lowered, can your car not get towed from any factory point? I legitimately want to know because my Cav was dropped, my Neon way back in the day was dropped and kitted(and you KNOW a Neon got towed!), and my MR2 is dropped and kitted and I don't see any issues.....

No factory point in front, and rear you could use rear beam I guess if it was easy to get to...

Much easier this way.

Why does your car break down so much that you need to constantly have tow hooks on it?

I don't understand this tow hook fad. It just looks like you buy crap parts and break down a lot.

I've been driving for almost 15 years and only ever needed to be towed half a dozen times.

Its not a problem of how many times it breaks down it comes down to when or if it brakes down the front or rear wont get ripped up even more by the line getting loaded.

If its in the snow in a ditch its much easier to attach if its already on etc

Why don't you just admit that they are on there because YOU like the way YOUR car looks with them on there. You might get made fun of by people but its your car....you making your excuses like you are about them is only digging a hole....then the post on GMSC is just bull@!#$.

Hey I can see the tow hooks. I would rather run tow straps as they are better in every way, can be hidden, and are actually required by some sanctioning bodies. I will have at least front tow straps once I have the money for them. My heat exchanger got all bent to hell by the ramp truck guy from the hoist line. He also put the hooks on my lower control arms with couldnt have been good for them. They're only 40 bucks.

Among those other great products he makes that you so kindly listed, he makes quick disconnects so you can remove those tow-hooks without tools and quit with the bullshit .

Only one person I've seen actually use those, and amazingly he tracked his car, lost complete control of it, and totaled the damn thing out. I'm sure Nostradamus Powell saw that coming though.
