87 F250 - going fuel injected

So my best friend frequents this site and is always telling me about all these great conversations about stand alone computers. I recently bought an F250 with a 302 that has been swapped to a carburetor and I would like to put it back to fuel injection. The guy that had it before me left all the wiring and the computer (although he says the comp is burnt out) and so I got a bead on a H.O. intake with injectors and sensors and all for a 302 and now I would like to look into making my own computer.

The Questions:

1. Can I keep the Ford wiring harness - e.g. can I buy the pin port that ford used and incorporate that in my comp

2. Where can I find some diagrams or info on building one - I searched the forums but found myself wanting, I suspect my search parameters were unproductive

3. What is the average cost to build one?

I appreciate any help you folks can offer.

iirc megasquirt has a setup for 50 mustangs maybe you could go that route.

Diyautotune.com is a good place to look.

Yeah one of the plug and play kits for 5.0 stangs would be the easiest way. Though Holly/edlebrock also makes one irrc. And I'm sure FAST does too.
