Project winter transportation

Here are the details;

-I have no reason to make this thread other than to feed my need for attention.
-you have no reason to follow unless you are board
-you can comment to feed my need for attention
-its a Taurus
-I know its a Taurus
-I know it sucks
-it was cheap, like scrap price cheap
-it has 69k and drives like a cream puff.
-It has flaws
-I will fix some flaws
-i also plan to do some things I don't need to or shouldn't do, but I am going to do those things anyway.
-it should be fun
-if it blows up, I scrap it, and I am not out anything.
-I daily drive a vette, so I needed something for the winter. this fell in my lap.

More detail, its a 2004 ford Taurus, my aunt owned since it was almost new (she paid 16k for it in 2005 I think) she got tagged pretty good in the rear quarter /bumper area. along with that it has some rust issues (i'm pretty sure the thing was NEVER washed) there are holes in the front floor boards I need to attend to. but I decided to start with the huge dent and lack of bumper. Anyway her son is a mechanic and NOT a body guy, so they put together a car they had a mechanics lien on for her and this just sat, her appt said it had to go, and thats how it found me.

I have fun stuff planned after that, that will be cheap, and absolutely ridiculous, but just fun enough I'll actually want to drive the thing.

her good side

the problem area...

time to do something about it (note, if this was a GODD car I WOULD go about this a lot different, but its not so save the speech)

two slide hammers, a stud gun, a cutoff wheel and various sized hammers were used in this process..

this is where I left it at the end of day one. most of the work was done under the bumper to try and pull the panel out, but that eventually led to hitting a plateau of progress, more on that later.

Day two of work..

yep thats a welder... Why? well I finally hit a point where that panel was just not coming out any farther, I was also losing the bodyline that the bumper sits against. That's where the cuttoff wheel came in. I cut just below that bumper line from the wheel well to the tail light, this released the actual quarter from the area below, allowing me to get it better in place.

that process left me with a pretty large gap, so out came the sheetmetal and the welder

NOW I am making progress!

while that stuff was out I decided to waste time and make a little patch panel for this rust hole

end of day two, she is a wrinkled mess, but at least the metal is in the right spot, nothing a little filler and some body hammers cant fix now

not horrible progress...

Thats all for now, i'll probably move on to the floorboards before I make that panel nicer for obvious and not so obvious reasons...

if you even care, I might share my plans soon

Where is this prizm? This is a taurus? Unless your talking about your prizm and only yours, in which case that's ok too.
