Hey Matt. Go back to the 1st page of this thread. The Third post from your original post has a pic of a 89 CSX. If the car your aunt has is red it should have the front airdam that is on that car. Few have survived because they hang so low. If your aunts car has that airdam it's a big plus.
How can some of you guys be so ignorant about cars? That car would destroy a cavy in any form of competition.
lol, i feel old. I've been lurking on this site pretty much from the begining. I guess I should share some information then. There are a lot of old 80's early 90's cars built by dodge/chrystler/mitsubishi that look like @!#$, but are kinda known as "turdbo dodges." These cars have a very ineffecient head design, but can handle like 20-25psi on stock internals. Very easy to make these cars sickly fast. Take a turbo omni for instance. Or imagine a minivan that runs low 14's, lol.
It's probably been posted before, but...

Turbo Dodges can be serious cars. A Reliant running 10's in the 1320 is nothing to sneeze at!
Considering someone said that car in mint conditon is worth upwards of $12,000, I don't think I would mod it at all. See that's the thing, you aren't dealing with a 69 Camaro here. We are talking about a car with very low production numbers. Mod something that doesn't have a place in the world as far as significant cars go. I'm not bashing anyone's car type here I am just tryin to get you to see what you have a chance at having.

Not every car that has been built needs to be beaten on. And you certainly don't need to be making it a "midnight sleeper." That implies that you intend on Street Racing a car that is very rare. Kinda childish if you ask me. I'm not saying Street Racing is, just that that car deserves better than to be brought to an untimely death because some kid in a (insert random riced out car name here) laughs at it. It will happen. Hell you even thought it was nothing special till someone told you some specs.
thats very good point. I guess i am a lil immature when it comes to racing probably cuz im 17 and like to have fun. And im really not sure what to do with it. but i will make it run again and give it a nice new wash and wax job. I'll probably ponder over the idea of either having one mean @!#$ car or having one restored stock hard to come by 89 Shelby csx. I still need to get those pics im sry bout the wait she ( my aunt) just lives so damn far from me and works getting in the way, but ill try to get there this week and take those pics. Thanx for all the feed back
un4givn wrote:In those days, those cars had Mitsubishi engines in them. It was during the whole Mitsu/Chrysler buddy program (read: where we got DSM from). So I wonder...... How easy would it be to swap out a 4g63? I know the older Hyundai Elantras that had Mitsu engines can do that swap real easy....... If it's possible, then hell yeah it'd be worth it. Talk about a sleeper.

where exactly does DSM have any association with Chrysler? DSM comes from "Diamond Star Motors" signifying the 3 point star made up of three "red" diamonds that make up the logo of Mitsubishi. what did YOU think DSM stood for? Also no turbo dodge was a mitsu, untill the 2nd gen Plymouth Laser, which was just a rebadged "DSM" Eclipse.

JAMMIT: "Diamond Star Motors" , or DSM, is (was) a joint venture between Mitsubishi and Chrysler Corporation. The "diamond" signified Mitsubishi's part, the "star" signified the Chrysler part (the Chrysler {pentagon} shape is called a pentastar.) Hence the name, "Diamond Star Motors". And you are incorrect on the TD's not being Mitsu's, well technically. The TD's were all Chrysler, except some used Mitsubishi turbos, and there were some turbo Dodge colts, which were nothing more than rebadged Mitsubishi's.

Somewhat related...

I would like to buy my old boss' Shelby Omni GLHS. Very good condition. Not daily driven. Garaged all the time. Similar to this one...
