Neal, Luc, Rob:
You can OWN one all you like, the problem is you can't License it in Canada. I'm pretty sure my GF would be unhappy about me marrying a US citizen just to get a car... check that.. I know she'd be PISSED OFF.

Actually you couldn't plate it in Canada for any highway use. It's not yet homologated for Canadian HTA compliance... You CAN drive it in Canada, but that would necessitate me having a US address and thereby I would need someone here to "put me up" for a few months of the year so I could get dual Citizenship, which would also necessitate me quitting my job because I'd be in the US for a few months a year, and thereby I'd lose the way I'd be able to fund my place here, in the US, as well as.. y'know.. the car...

I'm just trying to get the exact information as to why I can't import a GTO. I mean, it's a little ludicrous IMHO... The Mustang, the NSX, Ferraris, etc. make it over here, why not a GTO?

If I have to piss up someone's rope @ GM, I'll be their worst damned nightmare too.

The civic I'm talking about is sky blue and is RHD. I was like when I first saw it. He said it was a JDM but I really don't think it can pass inspection. It even has a JDM engine from what the guy said. I'm not a Honda expert so don't quote me on that. It is RHD for sure.

Then how are those canadaian dealers selling Scion's, don't you think a customer would get pissed if they buy a car and then when they get it home they can never drive it cause they can't plate it.

I thought that the car can be brought over to canada if it was a possesion of an immigrating person. In other words they own it in the US , then immigrate to Canada they can bring it with them. Then while a canadian citizen they can sell it in canada.

There is another loophole in the importing legislation, i know there is a Japanese student studying in canada and her brought his skyline R34 over here while he was studying. I don't think this will help you though.

Luc:
The Scion Tc isn't available here. Apparently its in the same quagmire as the GTO; not admissable because we say so. The xA and xB are legal for importation, eve though Toyota isn't playing up the cars to the Canadian market.

The Skyline R34 could have been shipped here, true, because there is a regimen to alter the front bumper for compliance with NA crash standards (thanks to MotoRex, they didn't limit themselves to a 5mph compliance, they went to 11mph IIRC). The Car itself CAN be denied importation, like the Ford Pinto if you wanted to talk about the mid-late 80's, their crash compliance was yanked in 1986 due to their depth-charge problem.

I don't think that it could be done unless the car was older than 15 years... The GTO, isn't a 15 year old car... Mind you, I'd own a 1963.5 Pontiac Tempest GTO in a heartbeat if I had the money

So the xA and xB are legal, but the tC is NOT. That makes no sense at all, i don't understand... they are made by the same company and are all not availible in Canada.

That quote is more and more applicable the more i learn about laws.

The xA is sold here as the echo hatchback, but the xB isn't sold here at all (AFAIK). Why would the xB be legal but the tC not be?

Brew-san: Didn't know the Echo RS = Scion xA.

Anyhow: Scion tC = Toyota Celica GTS.

The tC is mentioned as being inadmissable....

Anyhow, News: I've submitted my request for information regarding the Disqualification of the Pontiac 2004 & 2005 from Import into Canada. If they are as efficient as they like to think they are, they'll be back to me in a week. If I piss them off enough, I think they'll be back to me by Wednesday... Next week I work evenings, so I can piss them off daily.

Wannabe-scruffdog:
If you're that thick that you don't have brains enough to know what "No Doot aboot it" means, I suspect you don't have a GTO to parade around like an ass in, either.

The preceeding was an insult. You're welcome.
