The hunt

Well the hunt for a new project car continues.

I gave up on the 91 Integra GS I found...too many things could be wrong. So here's what i've found so far.

1991 240sx 5-speed needs some real TLC on the extrerior. About 140,000+ miles but its like 16hours round trip to get it =/ $1,450

1993 240sx Auto pw/pl/ps/pb CD-player in real good shape actually and its black. They want $1800 and its about a 6 hour drive round trip. I really dont want an auto but this is actually a pretty good deal so I'm going for this the most right now.

1990 Civic DX Hatchback 5-speed if you didn't know the body styles of the cars you would say by the shape its in that its a 95 or so. 1,150 dollars. Again though its about a 16 hour drive round trip.

1990 CRX Si with N.O.S. nitrous kit. Has blown head gasket guy says there is coolant in the oil pan and could possibly need a full rebuild. He wants too much for it though for a CRX not running. Wants 1900. Yea not happening.

1988 Z28 Camaro. Outside really needs some work, dent in the front fender. They want 999. I think its a 5-speed too which is a huge plus for me. I really want a 5-speed. Its like 5 or 6 hour drive round trip to pick it up. Maroon color.

So the hunt continues and I'm tired of find all these cars so damn far. I think a friend will run me out to Dallas TX to pick up the Auto 240sx after work one day. Could be home by 11pm or so. I'd have to talk them down though because I cant really afford 1800 bux right now. I want a car like now, tomorrow, yesterday. What do you guys think about my list?

Both of those would be great canidates for a project 240. Both of those years would be pretty much a straight forward swap if you wanted to go for a SR20DET motor. All engine accessories, tachometer, and the A/C system are in the right spot and will interchange with the SR20DET without a problem.

My friend and I just finished up his '90 240sx coupe with the SR20 motor. The only problems we ran in with his was the power steering reservoir is located on the US passenger side. The SR20DET has the PS pump on the US drivers side. All that needs to be done is switch to the DOHC car PS reservoir and PS lines. Second, the tachometer in the car is calibrated for the SOHC engine and will not work with the SR20DET. Replacement can be found in the DOHC car or in the JDM SR20DET car. The third problem was the A/C compressor from the SOHC engine will not bolt up to the SR20DET A/C bracket without a custom adapter.

Blah, I am rambling now. I would choose one of the 240's if I had a choice. Great prices too for them as well.

Have a good one,
Justin

very wrong.

no 3rd gen 350 EVER came with a 5 spd EVER. GM was afraid the 700r4 wouldnt be able to stand the high torque of the 350.

actually no 88 z28 exists, its called a iroc-z28 if u want to get technical

these are engine options:

M5,A4 LO3 V8 9.3:1 5.0 (305) 170@4000 255@2400 TBI (my engine)
A4 LB9 V8 9.3:1 5.0 (305) 195@4000 295@2800 TPI
M5 LB9 V8 9.3:1 5.0 (305) 220@4400 290@3200 TPI
A4 L98 V8 9.3:1 5.7 (350) 230@4400 330@3200 TPI

if its a manual with TPI id jump on it. as long as it decent running.

man trust me, its been covered on a thrid gen board IT NEVER HAPPENED!!

if someone sees a stick in a 3rd gen f body and claims its a 350 and all stock, hes a dirty lair. it never happened.

sure its easy to swap one in (well i wont say easy, but its no too hard.) but its even easier to mistake a 350 for a 350, they look exactly the same.

you could get 5.0s in either stick or auto.

rumors happen to turn out 90% of the time as fake, their rumors, dont trust them.

Any GM convertible was "convertibileized" by ASC. Hell, most any convertible you see on the road today was done by ASC.
