Thinkning about getting a grand prix
Sunday, February 27, 2005 7:15 PM
Alright, well here's the deal. I wanna get a grand prix GT, like a '97 - '02 model. Anyway, this car will be my "image" car and the cav will be my "sports" car. My questionis I wanna put some big rims on the car, can you fit 20's on them and stuill lower themor would I be better off putting 18's. I really do think I'll have this car within the next few weeks and would like to do quite a bit as far as appearance goes. Any help would be appreciated. I know a few people have these cars on this site, and I really would like to know what I could do. Thanks in advance.

Tim

the grand prix would be more of a sports car.

you could probably do up the cav for less exterior wise.

idk if u can fit 20s, probably with some work, but i think 18s will fit fine.

i suggest a GTP 240 hp that would be a good sports car.

Hey man, thanks for the quick ass reply. The reason I'm gonna do the GP as more of an image car is cause that's what I like those cars for, not cause they would be easier to make look nice. I just wanna make the cav quick and have a real nice sedan to roll around with.

Get a GTP, mod it, and be faster than most Cavaliers will ever be. THEN, take the Cavalier, and make it a semi-show car.

Just because a GTP can run 11 - 12 - 13's in the 1/4 doesn't mean at that stage it's NOT a daily driver, or still MORE comfortable than a J will ever be...

Of course, all the above is IMO!

Wow, I'm so hurt. Now that I don't have the blessing of the almighty BlackCav, I don't know what to do. I guess I'll just sell the cav and buy something a little more white trash so he'll like it. BTW, last time I checked 99% of the people on this site "try to fit in to society's socially praised status quos" by modding their cars so they are faster, or nicer looking. Have a nice day.

You can fit 20's on them with no modifications at all. You can lower it too & not have any fitment issues. He did have it lowered, but he was having a vibration issue b/c he used Eibachs & apparently the ride height they give you causes vibrations when you take off. Here's a pic of his:

I have pics of it lowered before the body kit somewhere. Let me know if you want to see them.

hmm... unfortunately, no.

Come on... my GTP (last track run before my mod-fest was a 14.2) or a TPI 305 (runs what, a 17.2?)

And can you feel the love tonight
It is where we are
It's enough for this wide-eyed wanderer
That we got this far
And can you feel the love tonight
How it's laid to rest
It's enough to make kings and vagabonds
Believe the very best

Ok ok, sorry, I had to. I agree with ya scrawny....hehe scrawny, anyways, the GP is a very nice looking car, I love my 2 door GT, the motor is reliable as all hell and will take a beating, however, transmissions, namely the 4T65-E is kinda tempramental. So for that reason alone I suggest the GTP, get the 4T65-HD tranny, save your self the head ache of buying one and having it put in later.
