Well after waiting forever the car finally came in today. Here's how it sits right now, dirty from transport and 25 miles on her. Once the car is cleaned up I will surely post better pics.

I ordered an auto on this car because all of the experts told me it was the way to go. It has the 4L65E trans, a super torque capable tranny. I was at the sema show and a guy from Hahn told me the best thing to do is get the auto cause the manual is clunky and the shifts were clumsy. Ask any Pontiac expert and he'll tell you the 05 GTO is faster than the manual in the quarter. ( It was a debate on ls2gto.com put to rest.) My vette and cav were stick and I never thought I'd buy an auto but I went with other's advice. I want to set it up for drag anyway, all motor and chassis mods and minor cosmetically unlike my cavy. Although down the road I may opt to put an aftermarket 6 speed in like I have in my vette. For now this will do just fine. The car is REALLY dirty in these pics, it's been on alot of carriers from australia to here I will detail it fully tommorrow. Gotta love the 6.0 litre ls2!!! I also made sure to get black on black, the red interior option is just plain "tacky" looking I don't care what anyone says!! LOL

Beautiful car man, those hood scoops look great from the front . The changes they made for '05 really improved the car, especially the addition of the 6.0 LS2 V8, the Ram Air scoops, and the true dual exhaust

Personally I would have got the 6-speed manual instead of the automatic, the shifter may be somewhat clunky, but overall its an excellent transmission. In fact, as far as I know, its the same Tremec T-56 unit used in the Corvette, Mustang Cobra, and Viper.

I have also heard that if you get the automatic, you have to pay a "gas-guzzler" tax. Just curious if you had to pay it or not, because it 16/21 really doesn't seem that bad considering.

^^ he said the auto tranny in them can hold much more torque than the 6speed. also, some people dont like shifting every two seconds. my celica is a 5speed and i regret it because i hate shifting all the dang time. i miss autos.

Cool Hood is that GMPP or is it aftermarket dealer installed. my father in-law has a 04. That he had an aftermarket hood installed at the dealer with a functional RAM air box. Is that hood functional too?
