01 cougar questions

a friend of mine from work just bought an 01 v6 cougar. he told me that its alot mitsubishi. i thought they were the same 2.5 duratec as the 24v contours. i was under the impression the stratus's shared the same platform as the eclipses. whats the deal guys and gals?

doge had alot of mitsu

cougar is alot of ford

the 2.5 duratec is the same as soem ford cars engine
you can swap in the 3.0 svt engine

cougar was a joint effort of mercury mazda and ford.

so he must have been thinking about mazda

I didn't know mazda had a hand in the cougar. The probe was built for ford by mazda, same platform as the mx6/626, but I'm not sure mazda had anything to do with the cougar.

Watch out for the Ford CD4E auto tranny though, one of the worst ever.

Agreed on the auto tranny... Someone I know had a failed one within the first year.

Merc Cougar is a Ford Cougar. Goto Europe and you will see.

The Ford Probe and Mazda MX6 were joint Mazda/Ford vehicles.

The Mercury Cougar is just a rebadged Ford Cougar for North America.

Mitsubishi and Ford don't play together much.
