do you mean a continuously variable transmission?

No i don't think that will make it into an economy car from GM.

^^ GM did on the Ion and 2005 they dropped it, because it was unreliable.

Saturn tried it on both Ion's and Vue's.. It was very unreliable and everyone hated it..

it sound to me like he is asking about a manumatic 5 speed not the cvt becuase he said manumatic 5 speed. maybe he was refering to variable valve timing. if he is talking about a 5 speed manumatic i hope to hell they dont offer it. manumatic transmissions are a waste of time imo

CrSublimeJLC I'm talking about the 5 speed manumatic and why they a waste of time. I perfer that because I don't drive manual. Sorry about the confession, I know that the 2.4 ecotec is going to have the vvt, but by reading ppl respond. I'm guessing it can't came with both. That suxs.

Thanks for bringing back that repressed memory. *shudders**

Manumatic, that is the Auto , but you can put it in a gear select mode where you shove the stick one direction for up and the other direction for down ?
I hope they don't its senseless, its actually slower in the "manual mode" than in the auto, it's not like it gives any advantage. There is no clutch. I would rather have a sequential shifter at least that does something; still no clutch though.

sequential shifter and Manumatic what's the difference?? I thought they are same. thanks you for the input guys

very much different....the main difference is that a sequential manual puts the power to the wheels through a clutch and flywheel still while a manumatic still uses a torque converter.

a good link explaining smg's
