RYNO Liner or HERCULINER ???
Friday, April 15, 2005 9:39 AM
Hey everyone!! I have a jeep with running bars/boards what ever you want to call them. And the problem is that they are rusting. I thought of throwing some Ryno or Herculiner on them!! I just want to know what you guys think!! I am going to sand down all the rust to the bar metal and them spray some primer on. Then I plan on using the Liner (yes, the stuff thats on most peoples truck beds). I will post pics once I am done. But I just want to know if anyone has used either liner and if you guys/gals have any tips or suggestions??

Thanks!!!

^^true, but the liner will last LONGER and I like the texture and the look I will be getting.
Eventually I will have to respray the Rustolium.

I would go and get it line-x instead. While you are at it, go ahead and get the whole tube line-x'd also.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Speedliner, Superliner, Herculiner, Durabak, and Duplicolor are all "solvent based" or "ONE-part polyurethanes". That is, polyurethane is suspended in a solvent. A catalyst is added which polymerizes the solvent and leaves just the polyurethane. The catalyst can be a liquid chemical or just air. TWQ-part polyurethanes work like this: A polyol resin is mixed with isocyanate (a hardener) which renders the polyurethane. Two-part polys are harder and much more durable than one-part polys. Two-part polys are newer chemistry and is what is used in todays boat, airplanes, etc. LINE-X and Rhino are two-part polys.

Hope that helps you out somewhat.

Have a good one,
Justin

It is sprayed on. Line-X has franchise dealers all around that you can go to so they can spray it on. It comes with a nationwide lifetime warranty.

http://www.line-x.com is the best place to check out to find a local dealer around your area.

To save yourself a little bit of money...if you are interested in spraying the tube as well would be to gut it all yourself so they won't have to do the work.

Thanks for the props on the Jeep

Have a good one,
Justin

dude, totally Line-X... they are the best by far!

any place that installs it should be willing to do your stuff and anything metal for that matter

They will prep the bars for you as well, so no need sanding and priming.. I dont think they want primer anyway, they just spray it on the bare metal.

There is this guy who has a 1990 GMC 1500 pick up that has the entire body, bed, and under carriage sprayed with line-x. The exterior is sprayed a red color line-x which looks bad ass and the bed and underside are just black. The truck looks awesome. It's the guys hunting/off road play rig so he decided to go with a full body spray liner coating versus buffing and polishing paint. It really looks awesome and i bet that truck will last forever

I'll weigh in:

Line-x Good... But I think you have to get it sprayed on at a dealer... not sure.. please correct me if I'm wrong there.

If you want to do it yourself, I've had really good results with POR-15.
