Looking at sporty 4dr cars need suggestions.. having a baby
Saturday, November 01, 2008 10:40 AM
hey whats up guys

well me and my gf are having a baby an we are super stoked

i work from home which means im gonna taking care of the baby full time.
i was thinking about trading in my 08 tC and getting something with more doors.

i don't really have any extra money to spend right now on a car but my tC is paid in full so ill have to try and do a even swap at the dealer ship with my trade in.

any suggestions on a nice sporty 4dr car around the 16k mark would be great

thanks guys

I am partial to Grand Prix's, but it depends on your taste. You could get a nice Maxima for that price. Or even an older Lexus. How about a CTS? Just throwing out ideas.

Used Cadilac CTS. I don't know around there but when I was looking at CTS-V's I found a lot of reg. CTS's around that price range.

SRT-4 is another choice. Personally I would wait till after you have the baby. You might decide putting it in and out of the back seat really doesn't bother you that much. Sure a 4-door is going to be easier but it never bothered me when I put my kid in my two door. Your girlfriend however might be annoyed.

Mazda 3. Any of them. You can go sedan or hatch and they all look nice to me. Sporty and you might be able to get a good deal on trade in at a dealer and not spend too much.

FIRST OF ALL CONGRATS ON HAVING A BABY
my choice will be 00-05 impala ss.sport snappy and look sweet especially the indy editions.shop around for low mileage .
but my first kid was born when i had a 94 cougar xr7.it wasn't as bad as i thougfht.the 2 door isn't bad especially with one of those car seats where the base stays in the car and the sea just cliucks in and out of the base and you carry the seat.makes the 2 dr not a prob at all.even my girlfriend didn't mind it.i had 2 kids in the back of my 98 z24 for 7 months and it wasn't a pain at all.and one was in a ifant rear facing seat and the other in a toddler forward facing seat.i wouldn't jump the gun on trading to soon

Dont worry about 4 doors. The kid will grow faster than you realize and be able to get themself in and out of the seat, and all you will need to do is help with the seatbelt. Back in 04 when I bought my cav my gf said it had to be a 4 door because we had a 1 year old. Less than a year later she made the comment that we didnt really need the 4 door as he could get in and out by himself now. That really pissed me off as I wanted a 2 door and the only reason we got a door was her.

If you want to stick with smaller and sporty-ish, I'd consider the following five as your top choices:

-Nissan Sentra SE-R
-Acura TSX
-Honda Civic Si (you can get the newer Si sedans, but you'd probably pay some over your trade)
-Mazda 3
-Hyundai Elantra (2007+)

-John

mk4 GLI or 4 door GTI, 1.8ts are great.
mk5's arent bad either.

read around vwvortex if you are interested in them.

I find the Civic 4 doors are sportier looking than the 2 door civics..

My thoughts exactly. Try to find a GLI (1.8t 6spd), or GLI 24v VR6.

Woot more votes for VW!! Yay!

Im VERY happy with my MK4 GLI, sporty, fast, and 4 doors.
Just make sure you keep an eye on the water pump, AND IF it goes out get the aftermarket one thats metal..

Legacy GT
Roomy, AWD, Subaru proven reliability & resale value. You get the cushy stuff like heated seats/mirrors/wipers, plus a turbo. There are a bunch in your area for right around $16,000, like this one. Yum!

My answer is always Acura TSX; fun, practical, and an all around great car.

If you can talk her into it a SRT4 would be great, but I'm sure there are other good choices. Personally I'm glad I went with a Subaru Legacy. AWD, safe, lots of air bags, AWD, nice gas mileage, AWD..... well you get the point. Just wish it was a Turbo version.

Well being a kid in the picture.May I suggest a accord. My wife has a 04 ex 4dr lots of room and has the 2.4L and lots of get up and go.Keep in mind u want something with room, mpg and quality.Keep in mind as well all the kid stuff u will have to have stroller, bag of kid crap, and so forth for room and vacation travel crap eventually. My wifes car gets about 24 mpg .I would look into something fuel eff, room bc the kid factor will cost u plenty.Just a suggestion

keep in mind, not only do you need the spot for extra seat, there also has to be room for stroller, and if you get one of the system strollers, say good bye to your entire trunk
