Well, he was doing a one wheel peel, so that tire is spinning 2x as fast as what is on the speedo, and judging by how many gear shifts it hit, its probably went past it's rated speed.

This is how it was supposed to be done. 305 tpi t5 trans, no line lock. ws6 suspension. with posi diff.
Cheap no name tire+ excessive heat+ and no water getting to that specific wheel= what happened in the original vid.
When Ford and Firestone had the whole fiasco 10+years ago, the explosion/thread separation was do to the intense heat produced with the low tire pressure. Ford was recommending their customers to run at 26psi on the Explorers.
