MORE Michigan Auto Workers Caught Drinking, Smoking Pot On The Job

Workers from Chrysler's Trenton, Mich. Engine Plant were captured on video, apparently drinking and smoking marijuana while on a break.

Now, Chrysler is suspending the nine workers without pay while the company investigates.

Here's a great article from a Detroit Auto Beat Reporter.

After a similar incident happened last year, also in Michigan...

can we really trust those working in Michigan's auto industry with building our cars?

Eh, it's just going to take a little time for the new management to weed out the bad eggs. Look at what Chrysler has been putting out the previous decade, management then obviously didn't give a damn what workers were doing on the job otherwise their cars wouldn't have been so crappy.

This is a little offensive, you're pointing your finger at everyone who works in the automotive industry in Michigan and calling them potheads / alcoholics.

If anything, I'd point my finger at that specific plant and call them out for not having drug tests.

Just my $.02

No - I didn't join just to post that - its just my first day in the forum.

This is an issue that has been blast over all the news outlets in Detroit and I want to know what the deal is.... They make it seem like its all Michigan's fault, like this isnt happening all over the country or something. I know a lot of people in the uaw and I know a lot of people who are for it and who are against it. I've heard all the rumors that everyone else has. I'm not trying to be offensive, just introducing a valid argument.

Its a little unsettling that news stations have to camp out to catch these people and the employer, Chrysler, isn't doing anything about it. they are letting the news do their jobs for them. its ridiculous!

So what about it, I was going to post the same story. He beat me to it.
Good old 3rd place Chrysler. looking to maintain it's position at number 3 and scrape the bottom of the global lists for years to come.

" Chrysler, isn't doing anything about it."

Hard to drug test when the contract says you cant.

Drug and alcohol use is not a new issue. Its been happing for years and regardless of testing or not, it happens on the job. Public outcry is about the only way to get the UAW to actually not force Chrysler to take them back.

Please do not lump all unions in with how the uaw operates.
