If it was me I would do HPT over FMU any day.

what about both...from a tuner perspective (I am not one) would you like to see both fmu or port fueler plus HPT vs. just HPT as a tuner would this give you more options?

I can't comment about portfueler, not messed with one.

I have tuned a car with FMU and HPT, it was more of a pain. For a supercharger set-up HPT alone can more than do what is needed with a good tune.

I would say that if you are starting from Ground Zero, and are either electronically savvy or have someone who is, go the HPT 2-bar route. That's effective up to about 16 PSI boost.

Should you want BIG fuel flow, to support up to 30 PSI boost, PortFueler is the way to go. It does not use an FMU, and it does not require HPT. We put down over 400 WHP this way in our Sunfire, and recorded low 11's @ 125 MPH. Nothing changed in the PCM from the stock cal, and the car drove smooth like butta using its stock injectors on the street.

His car is a Ecotec which means the only way to use a 2bar, or actually a 2.5bar map sensor is to use the GM reflash which is locked, and can not be tuned. I would forget the 2 bar part keep stock 1 bar map sensor, have the car tuned with HPT, and be done. He is supercharged so he won't be seeing 30psi of boost.

yeah I won't see anything over 18psi

Cool, thanks for the clarification on the 2-bar options.

Too bad it's supercharged...no PortFueler option

I've been running an AFPR FMU and HPTuners on my setup for years now. I have take HPT as far as I can as far as fuel and driveability goes with the offset and multiplier tables... I needed an FMU in order to give me the extra fuel I needed to run more boost and still have a car that runs nearly like stock. I am currently running a 2.5:1 ratio in my FMU, a base idle pressure of 50psi, and my HPT offset is at about 60. With this setup I still have enough fuel to pull and add it in HPTuners. I'm currently at 24-25psi on my SC61 turbo... the car put down 379whp at 15psi back in July so you do the math... The car runs nearly stock right now besides a slightly rough cold start which lasts maybe 20-30 seconds and then smooths out. to normal.

Bump for a min. Right now buying my new FPR and FMU.

I went with accel LT1 FPR since its a direct bolt on and cheap. I will give it a try, some people had great luck with it, others not so much.

I am not sure what FMU to get, i know i want a adjustable one. I plan to start with about 8pounds of boost + 37lb injectors. The market is ridiculously overrun with options.

I been trying to work on these Fuel calculations but i am stuck. I am not sure what rate FMU to get/use.

care to chime in bill?
