how does the stock computer read a/f?

does the stock computer really read a/f, or does it just do a "false" calculation based on readings from the o2 sensor? or is there a way we can interpret the o2 sensor readings if they're right to determine a/f?

it's all in voltages recieved from the o2 sensor. your computer doesn't really READ your a/f. it interperets the signals from your pre-cat o2 sensor, and makes adjustments to maintain a stoich (14.7:1) AFR.
